I duno if anyone else uses tombow adhesives... I have used them for years now, have had the same applicator. I buy the refills in bulk. Well the most recent ones I've been using I noticed are a different formula. I am constantly having trouble getting it to actually adhere to whatever I am rolling it on. Then it seems like it's not really as sticky as it used to be?! I used to swear by it. I made a card and came back the next day and it was all falling apart! I had to set heavy stuff on it and add glue dots to adhere.
Anyone have this experience? Any suggestions for new adhesive?
I am wondering if I should buy a new applicator, as maybe it is a little different with the new refills?
I'm definitely going to let the company know as well. I'm sure it's just cost cutting measures as is everything!
Thanks for any suggestions!

I've never had good luck with that adhesive. I do like their liquid Mono Multi glue though. I have projects from 20 years ago that are still holding strong.

I've always loved Tombow and have noticed problems lately too. I was wondering if it was just me but apparently not. Very disappointing since I've always had good luck with them. And, it is kind of expensive stuff. To use it and then have stuff fall apart a day, a week, or even a month later, sucks! I'm not sure what I will switch to. I also have the cheap Adtech stuff that I pick up at Hobby Lobby. I usually just used that on cards that I gave away, but maybe it's actually better then the name brand stuff!

It seems too thin to stick well. It makes me so sad because I have used Tombow for years. I also lately had two of my refills get all messed on the roll and I had to waste about half of each roll to get them to work again. It just isn't the same.

I've tried and used so many different adhesives over the years. It's hard for me to tell which adhesive I used when I go back through an album and see stuff falling off. I can say this--my early albums, from YEARS ago, have held up wonderfully, and all I used then was the CM runners. Not a single thing has fallen off of any of those pages. But I think their adhesive was (and is with the new companies) pretty pricey.

I also buy it in bulk. I haven't noticed any problems - I hope I don't jinx myself now!

Grrr...I really don't want to change either, I think I still have a few 3-packs left of this stuff anyway. I will use it for time being I guess. I think a letter to customer service is in order...
I think that's my biggest pet peeve in the world is how companies cheapen everything to save a buck! There is no pride for quality anymore. I really try to buy made in USA and quality products from companies that show they care about their product, but sometimes it's hard to find.
I also use the Mono glue too and have always had good luck with that.
Glue dots are usually a solid option, but sometimes you just can't have that little bump in there!
Thanks for the feedback.

Please come back and let us know what customer service says! I had a refill that didn't seem to be sticking well and I assumed it was old.. The one that I'm currently using is fine so I'm curious to know why it isn't consistent?!

I LOVE those and used to use them a lot. They are hard to get in Australia and I have changed to an ATG which works great too.

I had problems with monoadhesive over the years. Some refills were worse than others and I finally gave up on using them 5 or so years ago, as when I was a SU demo it was embarrassing to have cards literally falling apart. Nearly all my stuff feel apart with monoadhesive eventually, including scrapbook layouts I had to readhere. I LOVED the CM adhesive, too, and couldn't swallow the price of the new ones. Instead, I got the Teresa Collins Xyron runner and that has been a really good one so far. Plus the refills are bigger (100', I think) and you can use a coupon at Michael's for them. And the handle applicator is nice, without being heavy at all.

They did respond. Said they would pass along the message to necessary department and recommended returning the product where I purchased for a replacement, or sending to them for one. Since most of it was purchased a year ago, that probably won't happen. I really don't think it's just this batch, bcz I didn't have a problem until the new formula/style came along. Oh well. I will use this stuff up, if I can, and find something else. Thanks for the suggestions!

I've been having a few issues with the new mono adhesive refills too - the tape keeps sticking to the dispenser rather than the paper! I've used it for years and have been pretty happy with it, so it's a pain to have to think of finding something new. Don't really want to end up with something big like the ATG. Has anyone used the glue glider pro?

I've been using this brand of adhesive with great results-it's called "Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L" I heard they are the same company that made the adhesive for CM, like another Pea mentioned above. They come in 4 different formulas and are adhesive runners-a pink runner is EZ squares and are squares of white permanent adhesive, a red one is EZ runner and is tiny slivers of white permanent adhesive (great for small places), a green one is EZ dots and is repositionable dots of adhesive and the purple one is for vellum, which works very well.
I really like this adhesive. In the past I've used CM for years, before switching to Hermafix for a few years before they switched their formula-I just can't trust them anymore. Once I found Scrapbook Adhesives I've been very happy.

Yes! I'm having horrible results with their tape runners as well. I bought in bulk from officesupply.com, and 2/3's of the refills don't stick or the adhesive rolls off the backing paper. It's super frustrating!
I contacted Tombow direct about replacement of my 60 refills and they sent me 3. Not happy. At all. At this rate, 20 usable refills at $100 is hardly cost effective.
I'm going to try the Duck Brand roller next.

Ugh! Can't stand how companies get complacent like that. I was using it again Saturday, literally adhered an outline circle to a page and when I went to add some number stickers inside the circle, it was all ready moving around and loose on the page. It's just not working at all.
I am going to look into the 3L brand and some others.
