where do you find the best to fit bras? I am overweight. I am almost 46. I have twins and the way my stomach stretched during pregnancy has left me with a skin over hang below the waist. My breasts are full, sag and even my areola and nipples are huge (about as round as a soda can or larger). So, I need my breasts to have great support so they don't just look like part of my stomach! I am wearing a G cup which seems to fit the roundness of my breasts BUT everything I've heard says the part of the bra between the breasts is supposed to lay flat against my skin. It doesn't. So, I found the G cup in ONE brand (wacoal) at a large department store. They cost $60 each! I am just so upset. I need to lose weight - and I'm trying. I am exercising but there is no guarantee the breast size will change. In the meantime, I need help now! Exercise bras are just another problem all together. If you have any advice, thank you!

The Glamorise "Ultimate full figure sport bra" is by far the best bra I have bought. It does not have an underwire but lifts like there is one. It really hold them in all day with out giving the uniboob look. I wear it as an everyday bra, not just sports. Not on sale retails for about $46. glamorise.com/

Cacique. You can buy the bras in Lane Bryant, or some places have a whole Cacique store. They are expensive but they frequently have BOGO or other sales that make them pretty reasonable.
Go in and have them fit you; don't just guess at the right size.

I would recommend going to a bra boutique or maybe Nordstroms for a fitting. I had similar issues and went to a boutique and for the first time in my adult life had proper fitting bras.
I have recently had a bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction and at this point am still wearing the front close Fruit of the Loom sports bras recommended by my plastic surgeon. Once I am released I will go back to the bra boutique for another fitting.

The band is more powerful than you think. It's an important part of the fitting. My bra's are in the $80 + range. You are right to look for something that lifts. I can't advise on where to find as I am in Canada, but you are on the right track. Annette

I discovered Soma bras 2 years ago. They are fabulous. You definitely need to go for a proper fitting. A good bra is going to cost some money, but will be so worth it!

Thank you all for your advice. I know I SHOULD go for a fitting. I am so ashamed by the looks of my body. Stretch marks, sagging and fat.

check out the website www.herroom.com They have a questionnaire you can go through - not only size, but shape, how much separating, which way your nipples point, etc, and will recommend certain bras - and they carry dozens and dozens of brands and styles. In all honesty, if the center is not touching your chest, you probably need a bigger cup and smaller brand.

I am large busted and always have been. I wear that $60 Wacoal bra and it's worth every penny. It is truly a life changing bra. And for what it's worth -- I am a 34G and I am 47. So I truly understand. I wash my bras in the washing machine -- no fabric softener and hang them to dry. I started with two and would add one every few months. I generally rotate four bras. You really should try it. Trust me I know it's pricey but oh so worth it! They will last for years if you take care of them.

But, while they are better than what I had before, they still don't seem to fit just right. What happens if G isn't big enough? I've never seen anything offered bigger!

Yes, bras in my size are extremely expensive. And I'm super cheap, but it is really worth it because otherwise i look terrible in my clothes. And it is really hard to find bras (and tops in general) that fit because i have a small band\waist and huge boobs. Eta: even in my exact size, wacole bras don't fit me well. I'm really narrow and my boobs are really. .. round? So i need bras where the cups are really close together and really high up (no plunge bras for me). I wear almost exclusively panache. I even wear their bathing suits (a whole other issue for big boobs!). So you might try going to a specialty shop and trying on a number of brands/styles to see what works best. I could never find my size at macys, let alone a selection.

Im a G, this Glamorise sports bra is the best Ive found and Ive had a lot of $$ ones, its on sale for $20 www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008TOSMAY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 For regular bras Ive found Panache and Wacoal are the best on me but it took a few styles to find the ones that really work (middle laying on chest, comfort, and support.) I also like the "minimizers" barenecessities.com has regular sales like 10%-20% so once you find the ones you like, order from there!

Nordstrom....they do great fittings and they have a fantastic return policy and they will not be undersold (so their prices should be the lowest or the same as anywhere else). The big Nordstrom Anniversary sale is coming up in a few months and they always have some of the very supportive bras on sale then....I think it is usually the Wacoal brand but they may have a few other too.

I was wearing bras from Lane Bryant & like you, my bra did not lay flat in front. I was wearing a 42 H & now wear a 38J! Their reps are also good to help over the phone. Hope this helps.

I've heard good things about Nordstrom for bra fittings, but I've never had a good one at Lane Bryant and I've had one done at six different locations. Each time I'm told I'm a DD or DDD. I'm rocking an H cup right now. I don't really blame them at all--they're used to fitting sizes they sell! I also recommend Herroom.com for tips on fit. Here's one bit that helped me: www.tomima.com/2008/07/05/do-it-yourself-bra-fitting-you-dont-need-a-bra-fitter/Note that it says with larger breasts, the center may not lay flat. Sizes are so varied between brands so I chose a place with free return shipping and ordered several. I ended up loving the Elomi brand for my shape. Good luck!

(Hand washed, etc) Macy's does fitting as does Nordstroms. Stay clear of Victoria Secrets. They don't size right. When I went there with a friend they said they didn't have my size there. Duh.

I agree with what Ellie posted regarding the fit information from Her Room. If you have very large breasts, there may not be room between your boobs for the fabric to lay flat against your chest - unless you want your breasts pointing way off to the left and right!
Her Room has lots of great information about fit. They also use a "universal size" system where you can find out what size is right for you in different brands - because they are NOT all the same. A 38G in one brand may very well not fit you right in a different brand.
And yes, there are cup sizes way bigger than a G, but many stores may only stock up to that size, if they even go that high.

I second the bare necessities.com recommendation. I was a 36G and it was the cheapest place I found. I liked the Wacoal minimizers. I recently went to Victoria's Secret to be resized (I lost a bunch of weight due to cancer treatments). The saleswoman insisted I was a cup size smaller than I thought I should be. I let her talk me into a bra that I spill out of if I move wrong (too much loose skin).

an H is bigger than a G.
I started buying my bras on amazon by just searching my size and then really closely reading the reviews. I just plugged in 42G on amazon (I didn't know your band size) and 900 hits came up! Pretty ones too. It's worth a shot at trying. If it fits poorly, you can return them.

I'm a 32G. When I was nursing, I bought an elomi nursing bra in 38I and had it altered down so the band fit me! They make bras VERY large! Lol
My daily bras are Fantasie tee shirt bras. My sports bras are Natori Yogi Convertible. I love them both. I also have a Fantasie strapless that actually STAYS UP! Yes, they are pricey. They are worth it! I got fitted at Nordstrom both times. The girls there are awesome. They don't care what the shape of your body is. They know boobies and which bras they have that fit which bodies. I won't shop anywhere else!
Before I went to nordstrom's, I was wearing a Victoria's Secret 36DD and was falling out the bottom. The girl at Nordstrom took one look at me in that bra and said, "uh, no. You are totally in the wrong size." She was so right! The first day I wore my new bra to work, everyone asked if I lost weight. My girlie friends all asked me if I had a boob lift. Lol.
I've had 3 bras for 4.5 years now. I wore my ONE nursing bra for over a year daily. They all go in the washer and hang dry. I need to replace my everyday bras now tho. The elastic in the band is getting shot. I hate spending the money but I will because I feel good and lok good in them.

I need a G or GG depending on brand and style. I don't even bother to look in B&M stores anymore. Waste of time. I order from bare necessities website. They have a huge range of sizes up to K cup. Excellent customer service. My current favorite is a Glamorise front close underwire. Really love these. They're pricy but sometimes on sale, and bare necessities will send coupons from time to time. There are many other good brands that make larger sizes. Fancee Free, Walcol, Leading Lady.... It's best to try them on and find a brand, size and style that works best for you. I have ordered many at once and returned those I didn't love. Bare Necessities makes it easy to do this.

I got fitted by a professional bra fitter/saleslady who had decades of experience with hard to fit bodies, spent what I had to spend on a few bras at the specialty shop to get my new bra wardrobe started, and after that I do my shopping online to find what works best for me at lower prices.
The Goddess Keira bra is my "holy grail" bra in terms of correct fit and proper support. Some other styles by Goddess and Elomi work well for me too. Any of the Sculptresse by Panache bras I have bought work well. Same with Empreinte, but they're so expensive and I rarely find any on closeout so I only have a couple.
When I got fitted I was under the impression that I wore a 48D bra. I actually wear a 46H (some styles G, others I). Wearing the correct size bra not only looks better but feels better and when I am wearing a good bra I have no back or shoulder pain.

My daughter and I both are large breasted. We buy our bras at Catherines.com they also have a store locally here so it helps us try them on.
