Is there a tutorial that would let me transfer my Silhouette files from the desktop to my laptop? TIA

Do you have V3 on both computers? It is SO simple - but you must be using V3.
On your desktop in the Studio software click File, Library, Export Library. Choose your external device (USB drive) to send the file to.
On your lap top in the Studio software click File, Library IMPORT LIBRARY - it will then prompt you for your user name and password to confirm that it is your account/files. Then it will transfer your entire library (even if they are not from the Silhouette store - but they must be in the Studio Library).
One thing to note - You must follow the path above. There is also "Import" listed under file. This does not work - you MUST go to Library, then Import Library.
Are you on a PC? If you have lots of fonts I can tell you how to move all your fonts also.

I copy my font folder and just reinstall it on the new computer.
Go to your font folder - Windows is installed on my C: drive - so I open C: and then scroll down to the folder Windows, then I open that and scroll down to Fonts. I right click on the Fonts folder and copy it. I paste it onto my USB stick. I put the USB stick into the new computer and open the Font folder and "select all" the fonts and right click and choose Install.
There will already be some system fonts installed on you new computer that will also be on the copy of the font folder - so when a prompt pops up and asks me if I want to install over those ... I select "NO to all" for those, since they are already installed - but it will then install all the rest of the fonts you have copied over.
I recommend copying that font folder and sticking it somewhere in your backups - just in case!
