I'm taking my mom to a dental appt. and will be there for quite a while. The office will be full of people. I want to polish my nails while I wait- yay or nay?

Nay. The smell of wet nail polish can be very strong.

It would be very inconsiderate of the people who are in the waiting room. Yes, Rude.
Anything to do with personal care should be done in private (such as your car) and not in public.

Nay. The smell of stuff like that in a confined area gives me splitting headaches.

No way. If you want to take the time to do that, go out to your car and come back in when your nails are dry. I would find it very rude if someone were doing that in a waiting room.

I'd say nay because the scent can overwhelm others. I'd suggest doing your nails in the car, or outside, if that's an option.

Nay. Too strong of a smell. If you can sit in your car and do it while you wait. Then when dry, go inside. (as above poster said )

Maybe you could paint them in your car during her procedure. Give the polish a few minutes to dry to touch before going back inside. Mission accomplished, no overpowering fumes for sensitive noses.

I always have polished nails, but I would NEVER consider painting them in a public place.
One time I got some nail polish mailed to me at work, I wanted to test the colors and painted a swatch onto some tape on the back of my hand...3 different people commented on the smell. Learnt not to do that again.

Please don't. I had a roommate with severe allergies. Even the simplest smells could make her really ill for days. I can barely handle it when people put lotion on in waiting rooms.

Rude. Especially in a medical office. You aren't aware that personal grooming in public creeps out germaphobes? Add the smells of nail polish...Yuck!

I wouldn't want someone painting their nails in the waiting room since the smell can be strong.

It wouldn't personally bother me, but I can see why people would be bothered, and wouldn't do it.

So rude.
Unacceptable.
I can't believe that a grown woman even needs to ask. You DO NOT do that in public.

Rude, unacceptable, but mostly indifferent to the people around you. I would suggest you bring a book to read or a crossword puzzle instead.

Read a book or magazine instead. Reading is really the only acceptable activity in doctor's office waiting rooms. Even something like knitting should be avoided if it's going to be crowded becausr of space issues.
