Definitely go!!
I dream of a photography trek through the great cities of Europe, but my family doesn't want to be dragged around while I take pictures. I would LOVE to do it by myself. Bucket list!

I love traveling by myself! I much prefer it, but I am a loner by nature. I just really like solitude. When I was married, my DH was always going off to fish or hunt without me, and after one particularly busy deer season when he was at deer camp more than he was at home, I told him I needed a deer camp to go off to. So I started taking long weekends by myself to knit in interesting hotel rooms and visit yarn stores. I called it Knit Camp. Since I've been single, I actually have to work at not taking all of my vacations by myself. Traveling with others is a completely different experience, and I need both. This year, in addition to work travel, I've been to London solo, I'm doing a weekend at Universal Studios Florida solo, I'm taking a beach vacation with my son, and I'm going to Disney with my sister and cousin. I have done Disney solo 3 times, not counting when I lived in Orlando. One of my dreams is to go to Disney by myself sometime!

Go and have fun.
And don't leave your husband a thousand lists and reminders! You don't want him to feel like an incompetent teenage babysitter. He can keep the house running and take care of the kids for a few days.

Your getaway sounds perfect! When we vacationed in that area, we found several wineries that we toured & enjoyed. I would have loved this, but not with kids. www.achefskitchen.biz/dinner.html

Go! I don't go by myself, but I have taken lots of vacations without my hubby. He always wants to go see his mom and I enjoy going with my friends. Everyone gets what they want. We do plenty of stuff together.

I love solo travel. I am planning a solo trip to SF right now and took one to NYC last year. There is really something about being on your own schedule and doing exactly what you want. Plus the quiet meals and hotel room. Heaven.
I think I have a job similar to your husband's and I admit that I love getting asked to speak because I will add a day to my trip and make a minibreak out of it.

I say GO!
My DH goes on a lot of weekend racing trips and I don't get to go (I used to but with the kids it's too hard and us girls love the girls weekends together when Daddy is gone, so it's not that bad). But he just sprung it on me that he's going on one in June without even discussing it with me and I said "I wish I had that luxury"... to be able to just plan something with my friends without regard to the kids or anything. He told me to go somewhere then (he's said it before), and sometimes I wish I could just up and go for a weekend, but we don't have the extra money and since I'm a SAHM, finding someone to watch the kids while I was away would be really hard if not nearly impossible. I know I have a lot of "luxuries" that I take for granted by being a SAHM, that he doesn't get. So I suck it up. But I'd love to just say I'm going somewhere and just go. So go for it!!
