Has anyone used the Show Offs brand of stencil blanks for cutting stencils with your Cameo? Were you happy with the results?
Or is there another brand of stencil blanks that you can recommend that is a little stiffer and cuts well with the Cameo?
I want to make my own version of Kiwi Lane templates, but with designs that I like better from Silhouette. I already bought the ones I liked from Kiwi Lane. Most of theirs just don't appeal to me.
I have thinner stencil film for making stencils for spray mists. I may get some Silhouette stencil film, too, but it's rather expensive and is just one sheet of 12x24.

I have used overhead projector plastic and had good luck.

No, I haven't used any of those. What I do use is the page dividers that I find at the $Tree. There are 8 in a package I have a Portrait so these work without a lot of waste.

Aren't overhead projector plastic and page dividers both fairly thin and easily bent? Or are they slightly stiff?
The Kiwi Lane templates are at least slightly stiff. I may not be able to cut plastic quite that stiff, but I do want to cut something stiffer than the flimsy film I've cut before.

I just bought Grafix .007 plastic from Amazon because I read about it here. It wasn't horribly expensive considering how many stencils I'll be able to make from the pack.

My page protectors are pretty thick. Firm if that is understood. I have used them with mists and also with modeling paste. Didn't have any problems with them. I have not used them with my inks and daubers yet. I have a couple that I want to try but just haven't had time to play with them yet. I will get back to you once I do that.

I think you could use any kind of thinner plastic. Probably even plastic from semi rigid packaging. (I'm thinking of the old QK packaging.). I've cut tag board and art paper in my Cameo with grape at success and only on the 5-6 setting. But I've not cut QK packaging. I would think that the worst thing that could happen is that it doesn't cut all the way through. Try it out!

I did end up cutting the Show Off stencil blanks. I used the 12x18 inch blanks first. They cut beautifully in the Cameo. However, when I tried the 8x10 blanks, they seem to be significantly thicker and did not cut through.
I was able to do everything I wanted with the Show Off stencil blanks (at least as long as I stuck to the thinner 12x18 inch ones). They aren't quite as stiff as the Kiwi Lane, but they work well enough.

Did you try to double cut the plastic?
And you know we need pics of your project!

I not only double cut it, I repeated the double cut a second time without unloading the mat from the machine. The thicker stencil blanks still didn't cut through. But the other ones work well enough. I will try to post a picture of what I was trying to do.

These look really nice. I have wanted to do stencils of several of the Jillibean soup placemat cuts for misting.

Light bulb! I saw those templates, too. I used to use a similar system ages ago. Heck, it may have even been after seeing their system. It was handy to lay out the templates for different sized photos. I wonder why I stopped using those templates?
but it's a great idea to use the Cameo. You can do so much with it and it helps justify the purchase!
