We have a daughter graduating this year and have been invited to several parties. What do you give for graduation gifts?

Both of my kids graduated in the last few years and we took family trips to celebrate.
I usually give money to high school graduates. However, lately I've been giving Kendra Scott earrings to girls I know well. The college girls really seem to love them. I pick out a color that matches their university colors. The girls like to wear them to college football games.

When Daughter graduated high school we gave her husbands moms golf clubs and bag. We had lost his mom that May and it was a gift from the heart of his mom. And we also gave her a pendant that had been in his family for years. We bought a new gold chain for it. The one that was on it was all nasty and broken. She got money from most people. But I think he favorite gift was her nook that husbands business partner and his wife gave her. She didn't put it down that whole summer. Her grandma took daughter and daughter's dad on an Alaskan cruise. She called me from the ship one night because she couldn't get the wifi to work and she wanted me to order her a book so that when she docked the next day and the wifi was working again the book would auto load onto her nook.

auntkelly, I am getting a few girls Kendra Scott earrings in their University colors as well. My DD also asked me to buy the monogrammed towel wraps for her close friends. Each one will have their initials and be in the appropriate collegiate colors.
Other than that, gifts cards from Target, Walmart, Bed, Bath & Beyond are good standbys.

Cash. It is easy for the giver and easy for the receiver. Cash can be spent anywhere or be put towards a large item.

I give a check written out for twenty dollars and the amount of the year. So this year it would be $20.15. The graduates get a kick out of it and it doesn't break the bank when you have multiple kids you need a graduation gift for. We gave our own kids cash n a larger amount. In my opinion you can never go wrong with good old money. They all need it.

I've been using the year for the amount for the past couple years. Unless it is someone super special (close family or really close friend's kids) then it's $50.
