Hi peas I'm having family over next weekend for a small graduation party/BBQ, around 20 people total. I've been browsing pinterest for ideas but I'm totally overwhelmed. I want to do a burger spread with all kinds of toppings available. What else can I do to go with it besides the fruit salad and pasta salad I have planned? This will be my first time hosting a BBQ, I'm kind of nervous!

What about a veggie tray and maybe an ice cream bar for dessert? Parties overwhelm me as well, so I am afraid I am not overly creative with party food

We do several parties like this every summer. Because we have kids of varying ages at ours, we usually do hot dogs, brats and burgers with buns and all the typical fixings, a hearty baked bean recipe that always gets devoured, potato salad from Costco, potato chips/raw veggies/dip, a bowl of mixed fresh fruit or strawberries and grapes, and usually a homemade dessert. No one ever goes home hungry from our house!
We usually try to get whatever we can from Costco because it's all so good and it's already in bulk so there is plenty of food for everybody.

for a burger bbq in our family we would also have some type of bean dish, a raw veggie tray, potato chips and a chocolate cake.

I saw a recipe on food network that I did once, it was roasted corn and cherry tomatoes. Super easy. It was a hit.

I'd add some homemade baked beans and a graduation cake. Or do an ice cream sundae bar.

BBQ's are the easiest parties to host. Don't stress! When we have people over for a BBQ we have: hamburgers/hot dogs and buns sometimes we have chicken breast or pork chops w/ bbq sauce, but for this type of party, I'd keep it simple! potato salad or macaroni salad baked beans fresh fruit salad chips drinks (I usually offer water/soda/lemonade/tea along with some ice) Depending on the crowd, we might have some sort of alcohol, but usually if it's friends, it's BYOB when we get together for a cookout. And finally, some sort of dessert that's light and usually some brownies because... BROWNIES! Relax. Don't stress. This is really simple and casual and it's supposed to be a good time, right? Oh, and don't forget about outdoor seating. I usually ask a few people to bring lawn chairs if I know they have them, although I do have several and between what I have on hand and then the chairs from the people I ask to bring some, we always have plenty. We have a large picnic table too.

Thanks for all the ideas! I forgot about potato salad, that will be an easy one! I have made a list and I'm feeling much more in control now. Cross your fingers for good weather on Saturday for me.
