Oh man, what a sad ending! Looks like many of us were right. I knew something was off with that little girl long ago.
When she "confessed" I wondered about her story too. I thought that was an awful lot of blood spray in those trees for one whack. And one whack didn't seem enough to kill.
If you watched Cornell Confidential, you know that Abby told Cornell the truth a year later and is going to help her clear Ben's name and put that crazy sister of hers away. So what Ben did, it was all for nothing. I really want to know how Ben died. A year is too soon to be executed, so he was either killed in prison or committed suicide. Awful either way. Does anyone know if there are other webisodes that explain his death? Or maybe they'll explain it next season?
And while I understand why Ben felt at least partially responsible for his dd's actions and I cannot imagine turning your kid in, I hate what he did. He needed to be there for his other dd too. Plus, his DD needed to face the consequences and get help. Society needed to be protected from her. He seemed like a really good dad, but the biggest sacrifice he made was ultimately his worst parenting decision ever.

You girls were right when you said Abby did it. She's something to have hit him 6 times. I didn't get to watch the Confidential part yet, but spoilers never spoil it for me.

It was the oldest daughter, Natalie, that told Cornell that her little sister Abby confessed to them about murdering Tom. I'm just jumping to conclusions with you that Ben was murdered in jail. He was a convicted child killer after all. It wasn't a shocking ending for me so much. I had figured it was someone in his household from the first episode. What was disturbing was when Abby confessed to murdering the boy but claiming it was accidental. That boy was bludgeoned. It vaguely reminded me of James Bulgur's murder in England. Only in the fact that the crime was committed by very young offenders. It's always deeply disturbing when these crimes are committed by children.

Was that that finale? I thought there was another show? Nope, that was it. There's a video short online that is an addendum to the show. But the case is all wrapped up now.

I just watched the Cornell Confidential... I can't believe they are going to try and carry it on. I watched the Australian version first. I hated the ending to it.. I thought it wrapped up all too easily... I think this was more messy.. which I think it should be.. I will not watch a second season. I thought they strung it out. to far . and it was just too unbelievable.

Watching now with 20 minutes left... Abby confessed and left with the mom.. So are we supposed to believe that Abby set up the flashlights in the garage etc? Or someone else did that be used they knew she killed Tom? Or someone did it be used they thought Ben was guilty? But they knew the type .... Now Ben I'm sure is about to confess for Abby Ok I need to watch Cornell confidential!

The twists and turns were too much. I'm specifically referring to the episode where the neighbor kidnapped him and tortured him. As far as continuing the show, I'm not too sure if there will be a second season or not? I really hope not. And if they do, that it will be a different case with a new cast. I always get suckered into whodunnit type shows. Broadchurch season 3 anyone? I haven't watched the original Aussie version yet so appreciate the input on it! Not sure I want to waste my time watching it now.

Abby was the one that returned the original flashlight. Two different instances by two different people. Hope that clears it up!

Ok saw the end - creepy evil child But they never say Ben died - I guess we assume that from the Cornell confidential....so this was the finale right? We find out next season? Or is it a new case?

That ending sucked. And to have to go online for the "final twist?" Stupid. At first I was excited to hear that they would be bringing in another season with a new murder plot and Detective Cornell. Now I'm not so sure I want to get invested only to have to go to a website for more information. I was watching some of the other videos and that shit would have been good to know during the regular viewing. Maybe I'm just a stick in the mud - or just not happy with the ending. I don't know.

I don't ever go out and watch the Cornell Confidentials, either. I don't want to have to watch something in different places to get the whole store. I just watched the finale this morning and I guess I'll watch the confidential this evening, after work.
I suspected the little girl in the first show, but I didn't always hold to her. And then I really thought the mom knew and was helping cover up. There were a lot of shifty people in that neighborhood. LOL

Sorry Conchita, I keep getting the girls' names mixed up--yes, it was the older sister, Natalie, who told Cornell during the Cornell Confidential, that her sister was the murderer.
Ben definitely died but you don't know that without watching the webisode. I was confused at first because Natalie and Dave spoke of Ben in the past tense ("he would gave been so proud of you Natalie"--why can't he still be proud of her from prison?), but then they came out and said something about him dying. While my initial reaction was murder in prison, maybe he did get executed. If you have a guy without a lawyer, who confesses to the crime and refuses any appeals, maybe it could go through that quickly?
I agree with the pea who didn't like the way they used the webisodes. This was the only webisode I watched and I don't like that I had to do that. I'm hoping next season they don't do that, at least with significant plot details--just put them in the damn show!
I really liked this show and am excited about the next season. I love a mystery and I love that the mystery is resolved at the end of the season. I can't wait to see what they come up with next. I also wouldn't be surprised if they at least reference this season's ending at the beginning of next season. I'm kind of hoping they do that. I know some things got a little carried away (the torture scene) but I still enjoyed it overall.

I kind of enjoyed this show all season. I hated last nights episode. I didn't suspect Abby and while i'm sure you can occasionally find a 12 yo killer...it was just too unbelievable and out there for me.

I thought a lot of the show was pretty far out there. If Cornell knew he was innocent, wouldnt she do more to stop the DA? Wouldn't you report that?
And I'm really annoyed to read that you needed to be watching the online crap this whole time to get other details. That's just a ridiculous set up.

When Abby and her mom were in the car at the end and they were driving away Abby said something and I re-watched it 3 times and still don't know what she said exactly - something like "this wouldn't have happened if Jess had taken him to the river" or something like that - what did she say and mean by that - the mom looked horrified when she said it but I am not clear on what she said/meant.
I haven't watched Cornell Confidential - it stinks they did little twist online - my mom loves the show but doesn't "do" the internet (as she says) so she won't get to see it (we live in different states). I have another friend that loves the show but doesn't have theh internet - not everyone has it - they should have just extended the show a little bit and shown that on TV

Honestly, I couldn't stand Cornell either - I hated that she kept going after Ben and trying to pin it on him instead of doing the actual investigation. By the end of the season I really liked her, and seeing a bit more of her personal life made me interested in watching more, until it ended. I might check out the first episode or so, but if they are going to keep all the good information on the website, forget it.

(or something like that) indicating to her mom that she had intended to drown him in the river (you also found out from Cornell Confidential that he was afraid of the water and didn't know how to swim.)
I learned a TON of stuff from the Cornell Confidential videos. Pissed me off just learning all that stuff last night.

Don't know that i'd watch it if it comes back after seeing the finale and then going online to find out the wrap up.

Oddly I really liked the show even though I couldn't stand Cornell or the wife. I suspected the girl from the first episode and I guess I liked being proven right. I didn't know the webisodes existed until last night probably because we always fast forward through commercials. I was really annoyed to find out about them but I love a mystery and will definitely watch again.

Yea she was part of the reason I stopped watching too. I didn't like her character at all and I will not go to a webthingy to watch the details of a tv show.

I really liked the show and will watch if they have a new series next season. I, also, didn't like Cornel or the wife, but they both played their parts well. I hadn't been watching the Cornell Confidentials either, but watched last night's this morning. It was less than 5 minutes long. Couldn't they have found a way to include it, rather than having to go online? Must be they didn't think so.

I thought it was cagey.. so you aren't sure if he is dead or just in prison. I think it is way too far fetched... The girl seemed a little off.. but to murder another child..and not to have had any violent episodes before? If she did have violent episodes they definitely would have come out in the investigation!

But oh no, I haven't watched Cornell Confidential- Ben died??!!!
