I know I don't post much but I have an MRI coming up tomorrow and I'm nervous! Checking up on some lesions in my brain. Tomorrow is the day to find out whether I've developed any more and get closer to a diagnosis of MS or if there's no change I don't have to have another for a year, yay!
Anyone got any ideas on how to amuse myself lying in a tube with my head strapped down for 40min? Yuck. Its a great machine actually, bigger than most but I'm still claustrophobic and I can't hear any music through their headphones.

Best wishes with your MRI tomorrow. Ask the tech if they can turn up the sound on the radio. My guess is that there isn't much you can do while in the magnet due to the close quarters.
I know when I had mine done years ago there was a little mirror so I could see out but it made me queasy so I just laid there with my eyes closed and rested.

I don't have any useful advice sorry, but just wanted to say I am sending you positive thoughts and prayers for a good result. It's a big day for me tomorrow as well as I have a colposcopy and am pretty scared. It will distract me to pray for you!

Kelkeller, 3 or 4 hours! I have enough problems with 40 min/1 hour. I've never heard of watching movies in an mri machine though! That would help! I hope your daughter is doing well. UKsue, I hope your colposcopy goes smoothly. Not something to look forward to but a friend of mine had one recently and she said it was definitely not as bad as what she'd been telling herself it would be And pmm, you're right about the mirror. I get dizziness and that thing makes it worse! I just wish it was all over and I could get my results NOW.

No advice as I had to be medicated for my MRI (claustrophobic) but I hope you get good results!

Let the tech know that you can't hear music when you're in the tunnel. They can probably adjust that for you. I use the time to meditate. What else are you gonna do? The movie idea is great if they have DVD access for you.

Kelkeller I really think it would be so much worse watching me kids go through it. At least this way it's just me: I just have to be brave and do it but I would hate watching my kids go through it, hugs to you! Thanks for the nice comments all. I know people go through worse but I'm still nervous! Going in now

I hope you do ok today. I hate MRI's as well and have had 3 done on my nasal area. I too an claustrophobic and the only thing that got me thru was the music (ask them to adjust the volume if they can) and just keeping my eyes closed and thinking many happy thoughts. They fact they gave me a panic button helped too. I knew if I needed to they could get me out quickly.

I am so sorry you are going through this. I had my first MRI a few weeks ago. Use music. The tech asked me what I wanted her to play. I said the Carpenters (wrong choice) but I wish I would have said Sarah Mcgloghlin. Music is very powerful calming, healing, relaxing and slows the heart beat.
A million thoughts will be going through your head. Just remember this is a completely normal reaction. And you will have to itch body parts that you have never itched before. Take deep breaths. I will be over much quicker then imagined. From now on I have to have MRI's every three months.
Thinking of you and praying for you. jen

"Scanxiety"- I love that term!
Stacmac I hope your MRI went ok - ironically I am now booked in for one myself on Thursday!
My colposcopy was fine- a little uncomfortable. Unfortunately a tumour was clearly visible. I am booked for the MRI Thursday, to see a consultant next Tuesday and will then be having a cone biopsy or hysterectomy depending on the MRI ( or I may have a cone biopsy then hysterectomy when the results of that are back. I had so much info I am spinning and am just going to go from one appointment to the next and hope and pray for the best!) they have said it will be fast appointments for all of this which is better of course. I have been appointed a specialist oncology nurse who is coordinating all the appointments and who has also got me a prescription for some sedation for the MRI as I am claustrophobic too.
