Where is the best place, cheapest place to buy 12x12 vertical paper storage things? After an internet search, it looks like Advantus (formerly Cropper Hopper) is the only company that makes 12x12 vertical storage.
Other than priority mail boxes, are there any other DIY tips?

They carry them at J's. I've been replacing my old ones with the newer ones. Occasionally they will be 40% off otherwise I just use a coupon.

I'm sure you can DIY your own with foam core.
I decided to buy those Jet max cubes with the dividers. At 40% off they are $20 and they are sturdy and hold lots of paper.

Well, thank you! I was looking for the clear Cropper Hopper paper holders and I couldn't find them. My Michaels hasn't had them for quite awhile. Didn't know they were now Advantus. I like them because they fit in the cube storage from Michaels and it's easy to grab one out and sit at my desk while I try to find that elusive "just right" paper. I think I'll order a couple from Amazon.
