I don't follow football and I don't care about this, but I have to admit, I like watching the drama. So I'm just going to drop this here: I have a big needle for u!ETA: "The N.F.L. gave New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady a four-game suspension on Monday, citing his role in the team’s illegal deflation of footballs. The league also fined New England $1 million and took away two draft picks, including a first-round choice in 2016." naughty, naughty

First off, your link doesn't go anywhere but back to here.
Second, didn't we already know this? Old news. Is the NFL Commission going to hand out any penalties? Most likely not.
It happened. It sucks that N.E has to cheat. But its the start of the 2015 season. I am ready for a the new games and a kick ass year from KC.
Eta:
"The NFL has found that it is probable that New England Patriots personnel deliberately deflated balls during the AFC Championship Game in January and that quarterback Tom Brady was "generally aware" of what was happening.
The findings were released Wednesday in a 243-page report by Ted Wells, the league-appointed attorney who investigated whether the Patriots deflated balls in their game against the Indianapolis Colts."

I think it's a shame that there is cheating. But ehh at this point, nothing is going to happen so I'm over it.

Sorry - fixed the link!
I don't care either - but the threads in the first go around were pretty entertaining.

I think the report is a big deal since it states that Tom Brady was at least "generally aware" that the balls were being deflated. I think it will definitely tarnish his reputation with some people, while other people won't care at all. When they talk about his accomplishments in thirty years, I think someone will always bring up the deflated balls, .

I think it is interesting that they are now saying it was done on purpose and that Tom Brady was "genreally" aware, yet there will be no repercussions. That bothers me.

Same for me, it was pretty much a given that nothing was going to happen. So basically - NE cheated, we investigated, we realize they did cheat but we aren't going to bother doing anything about it.

ESPN seems to think that something will happen to Marsha and the two equipment managers. Nothing to the rest of the team, nor the team's record.
In the end though, the only effect will be one more thing to tarnish the Belichick- Brady legacy.

It's totally not a surprise. And it won't be a surprise when the NFL does absolutely nothing. Same with the public apathy. Ticket and merchandise sales will not suffer one bit.
It also won't be a surprise when a certain pea finds this thread and throws some batshittery around.

I don't think anything of consequence will happen either. Could they at least fine them?

And, just for old times' sake, and because now it's proven (once again) to be true: ![](http://rack.2.mshcdn.com/media/ZgkyMDE1LzAxLzE5L2QyL2RlZmxhdGVnYXRlLjdmYzM1LmpwZwpwCXRodW1iCTEyMDB4OTYwMD4/697ad4e4/3cc/deflategate.jpg)

I live in New England...born and bred here (please don't hold that against me ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) ). I am an Atlanta Falcons fan, so I don't have a dog in this fight other than the fact that I live here , but I really just want to say that every time I hear or think about this situation, I think of Tom Brady's kids. I don't know why, but I do...I wonder how he will explain to them when they are old enough to understand why he felt the need to cheat and tarnish what was shaping up to be quite a legacy. By all accounts he is an amazing dad, so it hurts my heart to think his kids will have to live with (live down??) THIS legacy because of stupid, stupid, stupid choices made by otherwise intelligent adults. That's it...I've got nothing else.

from the linked article:
"we do not believe there was any wrongdoing or knowledge of wrongdoing by the Patriots ownership, Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick or any other Patriots coach in the matters investigated. We also do not believe there was any wrongdoing or knowledge of the wrongdoing by Patriots Head Equipment Manager Dave Schoenfeld."
^^^so the equipment people are being thrown under the bus, after all... I think this is what a lot of people speculated would happen-- hopefully they got good payoffs.

Cause the equipment guys would just take it upon themselves to deflate game balls with no input from owners, players, coaches or other staff.
Yeah. And I'm Queen of the Galaxy.

Well in fairness, the report did indicate that Brady was mostly likely complicit. So at least they didn't try and claim they acted in a vacuum. Although their "more probably than not" language is pretty farcical.

Discouraging. The fact that they waited until after the draft to release the findings means the NFL doesn't give a crap about cheating. They wanted to bury it behind anything that could be to their detriment.
My take-away is that if you play by the rules, you're a chump.
This sport is circling the bowl with Goodell at the helm. That has to be the next big change.

The league and fans have been turning a blind eye for decades. I gave up on it long ago for just this reason.

Jessie Palmer was on ABC News a bit ago. He basically said that if we think NE's quarterback is the only quarterback that "has preferences", it's not true. He also said that TB is one of two of the greatest quarterbacks, along with Montana. And, this won't affect that.
That said, TB had to know they were off. Somebody who handles that many balls (insert 13 year old laugh), every day had to have either known or expressed a preference. I'm a diehard NE fan, and am very disappointed in my team and QB.
There is speculation that there will be some punishment, and there should be.
