*UPDATE 5/9:
More details today, given by his friend, about his neck surgery. Discectomy was performed involving 2 vertebrae in his neck to remove disc material that was causing pressure on the cervical nerve roots causing pain. The surgeon went in from the front by the vocal cords. The procedure took 4 ½ - 5 hours. He is still in a lot of pain including nerve pain in his arms. The physical therapist was there today. He got out of bed, took a couple of steps and sat in a chair for a few minutes. As of 9pm (7pm CA time) the doctor had not been in to see him since his surgery yesterday evening to give him a prognosis. Friends were able to retrieve his possessions today that had been strewn around the accident site along highway 89. Of course his bike was totaled. We’re just thankful that HE was not totaled!
*UPDATE 5/8:*
From my mom: He slid off an icy mountain road down into a ravine when he was taking a bike trip from Oregon to California. He could have died there from hypothermia but, in spite of his injuries, God gave him strength to climb back up to the road where a couple of men spotted him. One of them stayed with him while the other one went for help. He had surgery yesterday to have pins put in his right elbow. This evening he had surgery to repair 2 discs in his neck. Your continued prayers will be appreciated.
OP: This is my other Uncle's brother. He just posted this morning that he crashed his motorcycle and is in the hospital with neck and back injuries and a broken right elbow.

Thankful that he is on his way to recovery!
My dad has had a motorcycle from the age of 15 until a couple of years ago. Now, at almost 63, he is looking for another one. When I found out, I had to pitch a hissy fit. It scares me to death, and he pouts if my mom doesn't go riding with him.

That is scary. He must be a strong person physically and psychologically to have been injured like that and still able to climb back up to get help.
Good thoughts and prayers for a full and speedy recovery.
