I can hardly wait to see the new catalog, but I have a while to wait. Are there any stamps in there that you just have to have? What do you think of the new stamps ? Last year, I was disappointed with the new catalog. I'm hoping this year will be more fun.

I love this new catalog (I know that's not an impartial viewpoint...haha!). But I can honestly say I'm really excited about this catalog and I know my customers will be so excited too. I get my shipment of catalogs on Monday and I can't wait to see it in person. I'll have to answer your questions about what stamp sets I just have to have when I get my physical copy.
Scrapaddie, aren't you in Canada? If so, you need to connect with a Demo in your area so you can get a catalog soon!

I have a question about Stampin Up. Do I need a local demo or can I just order from the website? Do the new catalogs cost money? OR do you get one if you order?

I'm not a demonstrator but I have seen the new catalog. I am really looking forward to getting the new pink color--watermelon wonder. There are about 6 sets of stamps I'm really liking...I am still kinda irked that so many stamps were retired, but I'm trying to move on.
Not impressed with the modified hostess rewards program.
You can order from the website without choosing a demonstrator but there is no advantage to doing so.

Just received my preorder shipment + catalogs. I love the new catalog. I really like the new stamps they've added this year. I need to broaden the type of stamps I normally purchase and there are some new styles I think will work just for that!

That's a relief. Too bad they don't share that in the catalog. Any idea when?

That's a relief. Too bad they don't share that in the catalog. Any idea when? No, we haven't gotten a release date. It's a footnote in our retirement list that says both colors are being reformulated. Could be reason why it was left out of new catalog? As soon as I know anything about it I'll share the info here.

Thank you. I haven't seen the retire list yet.
To be fair, my reg demo's husband just walked out on her and SU is, understandably, not her priority right now.

I haven't really seen much discussion about the change to the hostess reward program. I am not a demonstrator...I order through my demonstrators website maybe 3 times a year (on my own, no party) and it's always a goal to get to the $150 level. I'm disappointed in the change. I doubt I will do my own orders any more. I will place my monthly order at stamp club and be the once a year hostess.
Feeling kinda snubbed.

I'm a demo (hobby only) and have to say that I'm disappointed in the catalog. Many, many of the new stamp sets are available in photopolymer only. (I don't care for pp and rarely buy it.) There are few new punches and dies. The new In Colors don't do it for me. (Loved the last colors.). 12x12 paper is now only available in mixed color packs (color families).
On the plus side, I love the From Land to Sea stamp set and the Watercolor Wash and Brushstrokes background stamps. These are probably the only stamp sets I'll buy since the other sets I like are pp only. I like the tree and medium star punches and will get those. I also like the Fancy Foil velum.
I'm sure more things will make it into my craft room once I see all the fabulous things people post made with things I (now) say I don't like!

Just curious what it is about photopolymer you don't like? I know when I've used cheap acrylic stamps I haven't been happy w/ the results. Also, before SU changed to new foam ink pads I didn't enjoy using PP stamps because the ink would bead and wasn't compatible w/ PP stamps. Haven't experienced this since the change. I wasn't crazy about the new In Colors when I first saw them online when they were introduced at South Pacific convention. After I saw them on projects, my opinion changed and now having them in person, I love them.

Rubber gives a finer, more exact impression. It's more forgiving with regard to variances in pressure, varieties of ink, and manner of storage. I have rubber stamps that are over 30 years old and they still stamp beautifully. The jury's still out on whether pp will be as good an investment.
I do have two SU pp sets and am not impressed with them when compared to rubber. They are better than the cheap dollar bin variety of clear stamps, though. The SU pp stamps are comparable to Papertrey Ink, IMO. (I buy PTI primarily because many of their stamps have coordinating dies. I don't think I have any PTI stamps that don't have a coordinating die! lol)
I might be tempted to buy more SU pp if more of the designs were clean & simple and not the usual SU froufrou/flowers. I have to REALLY love a stamp to buy it in pp, and it needs a coordinating die or punch to really convince me to buy it. Also, SU pp is more expensive than other brands of top-quality clear stamps. If I'm going to buy clear, I need to feel as though I'm getting a great deal since I'm not crazy about the fact that the image isn't in the material I prefer (rubber).
I've been rubber gal (unmounted or bare) since way back. I was unmounting my woodmount stamps (and wheels) long before they were widely available unmounted.
I know many people were excited when SU started selling pp/clear. I was, too, even though it's not my cuppa, because I figured the more people SU makes/keeps happy, the better. My excitement took a dive with this catalog, though, because so many sets are available ONLY in pp. SU not offering stamps in rubber??? That just blew me away (in a negative way).
