It seems like many of us have jumped on the adult coloring bandwagon, so I thought it would be fun to have a thread we can keep going for everyone to show off their coloring masterpieces. I got the Secret Garden book a few weeks ago, but it's been a busy work time for me, and I haven't had a whole lot of time to color. I have started on the cover, though. I think I'm going to photocopy the pages rather than coloring in the book in case I want to try different colors, etc.
I don't have anything finished yet to share, but I would love to be inspired by everyone else!

I always loved to color as a kid. I enjoyed coloring with my son when he was little and more recently my grandniece. So, I jumped on the bandwagon. I find it so relaxing and addictive. I just did my first picture sheet - and realized I didn't have a pencil sharpener!

I bought the Secret Garden coloring book because of the frenzy here. I haven't had a moment to color yet! I did see my daughter eyeing it up the other day!

Costco has jumped on the bandwagon. They had 3 or 4 different books in a coloring book series there today. Tempting, but I didn't one.

This is what I bought for my mom for Mother's Day, I hope it's as fun and relaxing as I've heard on here or I'll be the weird daughter who bought her mom a coloring book. I sent them straight from Amazon so I couldn't see all the pictures. Actually my mom is kind of artsy and I think she mentioned these on Facebook so I won't be disowned

Why aren't there any pictures in this thread yet?! I want to see pictures!!! The only coloring I do currently is stampimages for cards I'm making, but I am highly intrigued by these coloringbooks. Would I be able to use Copic Sketch Markers in them you think?

It's not really a "trend" for me. I have always enjoyed coloring. I used to buy new coloring books and crayons for my kids simply so I could color with them. Years ago, I was introduced to mandalas and started coloring those. It is so relaxing for me, and I'm glad there are now adult coloring books. I've always been a colored pencil/marker junkie, too.
I will post some photos of what I have been coloring in a bit.

Yep, not really a "trend" for me either. I always enjoyed coloring as a child and in my adult years, can't begin to say how many hours I've spent coloring with my grandkids. I actually prefer simple kids' coloring books and all the delightful shades of Crayola crayons, so haven't indulged in the adult books of today, but who knows, maybe I will someday. It's been a great bonding time with my grands and other little ones, and a good relaxing and just plain down time for me.

It appears that photobucket has changed things since I last posted a photo, so this may not work. This is what I have been coloring today. I'm not finished with it.

I posted these here on another thread. If you click on them, they become larger: Horse using Tombows. In progress, using Tombows and gel pens.

I wasn't getting the trend either...looked right down my pointy nose at it...until one night when I couldn't sleep. Someone on another thread mentioned how relaxing it was, so I thought I'd give it a try. I hauled out my cheapo colored pencils that I use for garden diagrams and found some free coloring pics to print. I colored for about an hour, then slept like a baby. I can't say that I am going to set aside time in my day for it, but for nights when my busy brain won't shut up, I think it will be the answer for me.

My mother was way ahead of the game with this trend. I can recall she had her own coloring book that she used to color in any time we wanted to color. We'd be coloring Sesame Street or The Muppets or whatever and she would be coloring in this: Gingham Girls Color BookOf course, coloring books geared toward adults or older kids/teens have been around for awhile now, but back then she just found one book she particularly liked of the ones offered for kids and bought it for herself.

I'm glad coloring has become trendy--I don't feel so alone now . This is probably the first time in my life I've ever been ahead of a trend (and probably the last.)

I used to have that coloring book when I was a little girl! And every year since I can remember, my mom has given me at least one Barbie coloring book and a new box of crayons for Christmas. Some years she would add a Precious Moments or Disney one, too, but there's always a Barbie one.

I have always found coloring so peaceful and relaxing. I ordered a coloring book that hasn't arrived yet (was on backorder) and I'm looking forward to spending some distressing time with it. I could use one right now, as a matter of fact. I just had a big fight with my sister who is here for the weekend. Sigh. I want my own house and life back. Waaaaaa.

I am not jumping on the bandwagon just yet. I mean I will need MORE markers, at least 3 colouring books and then the patience to colour. Then more markers as the 3 packages of Souflet ones I have are not enough. I need every colour ever made. Maybe tonight if I can't sleep I will place an order...

elaine I love that animal coloring book might have to add it to my stash of coloring books.
Marianne I love coloring in kids coloring books. I have a collection of Christmas coloring books. I love Santa and at Christmas I love coloring in my Christmas books. I have more Santa pages than any thing else. One of these days I am going to go through the books and take all the Santa's out and put them in a note book in page protectors like I did with my flower coloring book I am doing now. Maybe that will be a Christmas craft this year.
Elannah I know what you mean about always having to have 3 coloring books and every color there is made. I always buy the largest container of crayons, gel pens, colored pencils and what ever kind of stick I am coloring with. I never seem to have enough colors.

These pictures look beautiful. I think I could be lured into this pastime.
What do people do with the finished pictures? Do you frame them? The examples shown seem to be single pieces of paper, does this mean they are loose in the colouring book?
I worry that I would need a colour guide to help me in the beginning. I think I have a good eye for colour in my scrapbook pages but these pictures are so intricate.
Off to Amazon to have a look! Corinne
