I am from Ohio, so this is big news here. We are excited to have him back and seems like the hurt and pain have been forgiven lol. I am not exactly sure how to post links yet on this new board, but here is the letter from Lebron about his return. www.si.com/nba/2014/07/11/lebron-james-cleveland-cavaliers

I know someone in sales for the Cavs and I'm predicting he's going to have a great year.

I am surprised that they even wanted him back. They better win a title very soon or he will be team shopping again.

It wasn't so much the fact that he left. We get it, we live in Ohio.... if it weren't for the Buckeyes, we would have nothing to live for...lol. We are used to having heartbreak between the Bengals, Browns, Reds, and the Indians. We have the most diehard fans in the country with small market teams that don't win championships.
It was the way he announced that he was leaving, and the fact that he kinda rubbed it in the face of everyone that had supported him and helped him growing up and getting his start in the NBA that caused the bad feelings. He has admitted that the "Decision" was a mistake. He admits in the article that he was young and didn't understand the impact of his actions.
Cleveland deserves to have him back and deserves a championship. They need something to help them ease the pain that will be Johnny Football... lol.

It makes me wonder how Seattle fans would react if the Sonics ever came back. Many of them were so bitter, but I don't remember burning jerseys or anything like that. So it's interesting to see how severe the backlash was and now how the welcome is Now I suppose if the owners had jerseys Seattle fans would have burned theirs!!

I'm very happy for Cleveland. I'm also happy that LeBron has his priorities straight again. He IS an Ohioan through and through and never should have left. I'll guess that he is inwardly relieved that he did get a couple of rings in Miami, but that it wasn't the humongous success that everyone was predicting. He's got the rings now AND his family can move back into their Akron home full-time.

I was one that was pretty disgusted with how he handled his leaving (not so much the leaving itself--I got that). I think it's fantastic and I think most fans will be forgiving and excited. Love to see good things happen in NE Ohio.

Whether you love him or hate him...it is HUGE for Cleveland. My daughter and grandson live and breathe Cavs basketball and stayed true to them and attended games even when LeBron took his talents to South Beach. I think his decision to return to CLE boiled down to where he wanted his kids to grow up. He loves Akron St. Vincent/St. Mary and contributes a lot of money to the school. He seems to have his priorities straight compared to many other Pro athletes.

I thought that was a fabulous letter. I also liked the fact that the Cavaliers didn't find out in advance, just as they didn't get much notice in 2010.

Don't even get me started on Seattle sports fans LOL Their behavior about A-Rod after he left (before the steroid scandal) was just ridiculous. They were still booing him YEARS after he left "for the money." UH, DUH. It's professional sports. That's what they do. I have no doubt Seattle would be happy to have an NBA franchise again, but they would probably have a conniption if it was OKC coming back.

He effed the fans in Cleveland and people are ready to bend over and spread 'em for round 2. It saddens me. As a sports fan, I don't think I would compromise integrity for a ring. I'm sure I'll get slammed for that, but I'm not even from Ohio and I'm pissed that people drink the LeBron Kool-Aid.

I was wondering how the Cleveland fans would react---if they would be happy or still PO'd as long as he's humble about it then maybe everyone deserves a 2nd chance.

Yes, the way he left was crappy but it does not negate what he has done for the team and this area. He's still our hometown boy, kind of like the prodigal son who leaves his family for the big lights but is still welcomed back when he returns. I don't think any Kool-Aid is being consumed here and no integrity sacrificed. We're just realists and we're forgiving.

Glad the decision has been rendered, our son's unworn Cavs/LBJ jersey (purchased way too big just days before The Decision four years ago) still fits, & the other NBA free agents who don't have the luxury of hand-picking their destination will now be placed on teams. Hoping the Hornets can put together a winning team this year (& recent first-round draft pick PJ "Poor Judgement" Hariston gets his act together now)!

We will never for give Chris Chelios for defecting to the enemy (which he did in 1999) and he was booed off the ice at his own Heritage Night (in 2012). We also hate Scottie Pippen (he's a giant douche).
LeBron's arguably one of the most hated men in pro sports for reasons related to basketball and him personally. That's why I said the Kool-Aid.
But, if people in Ohio are happy, then that's all that matters...at least he won't be coming to Chicago. LOL

I have no feelings about the man one way or another. i do, however, love the city of Cleveland. This will be a positive development in many ways. Financially for sure, as well as energizing fans to come to games, which means traffic and $$ for Cleveland businesses. There are all sorts of possible good things that can happen as a result of his move.

LeBron has always kept his home in Akron and spent a good amount of time there each year with his family. He has continued to contribute huge amounts of money and time to help the Akron/Cleveland communities, throughout his 4 years in Miami. He kept his original friends from Ohio around him in paid positions. The hate for LeBron in the Cleveland area faded for many over the years because of all he continued to do for the community. He might have left the professional basketball team, but he didn't abandon the people there. I don't think any of the Chicago athletes you mentioned continued to make large contributions to Chicago for years after they left, did they? If they had, maybe the reaction wouldn't have been so bad. Or maybe it would have, I don't know.
