We have been looking for a rental for the past week. I have done a bunch of research and drive bys. I talked to too many property management companies. All the houses that we have looked at that are in our price range is any were from 1200 to 1500 sqft. We talked to a lady that actually is buying a house. Closing date is June 15th. We are the only ones that knows about this house because when I called on her other house I asked if she had any other locations. She said that we could go over there and peak through the windows. So we did. It is just over 1400 sqft. Cute house, tiny tiny yard. double car garage (so that would be the same) our house now is 1750 sqft. We lived in a travel trailer that was about 600 sqft so it's not as small as the trailer but not as big as this house.
The bedrooms are smaller and so is the living room. Which I think is not a problem. I don't need 6 feet of space between my side of the bed and the wall. We only have the one dresser, our king size bed and 2 night stands. I am not worried about the other furniture fitting. Because the sectional is in pieces and can be moved a lot of different ways. Husband and I are thinking long term place. Owner wants long term renters. Daughter is 22 and will be done with school in the next year and will want to move out. I am thinking that this house is going to be PERFECT for husband and I after she moves out (which I don't want her to move out until she is ready to) I do how ever need to find the perfect fit for us now and then. I don't want to get into a large house and then have to move to a smaller one in a year or 2.
With my back this place would be easier for me to clean with a little help form daughter or a cleaning service (Mainly bathrooms and mopping floors).
Husband and I are excited to go see the house on Monday with the realtor (owner is out of town so she set it up with her realtor) Daughter is not all that excited because she thinks it will be too small after living here.
Plus did I say it is BRAND NEW! no body has lived there it is just built. It is very clean and very new. We would be the first people to live there. I have never lived in a brand new house before. The one thing that we will have to give up is our hot tub. But husband says he doesn't really like it and wants to sell it and maybe get another one down the road. This yard is too small for a big hot tub but we could probably get a small one to fit.
The yard is tiny. fenced and perfect for our 3 little ones and it has a nice size patio for bbqing and sitting out at our table. The yard is low maintenance so husband could do it in about 20 minutes front and back.
All the other house we have looked at (outside only) has big high maintenance yards. we would have to deal with a property manager instead of owner. and the houses are not new and the houses are that much bigger some of them are a lot smaller.
Question is what would the peas do? would you take the new house with owner or an older house with property manager?
