This is my DBF's special birthday weekend. We are out of town the entire weekend. For some reason, I worked out with a friend earlier this week and really overdid it. My right thigh muscle is shot. It hurts to bend my knee. The thigh muscle hurts not the knee. I am hobbling around. I thought it would loosen up and I'm using Biofreeze but standing up and sitting down is painful until I get into that position. Then walking is done with a limp but isn't horrible. I've tried Advil and some leftover Vicodin I had in my purse. Advil did nothing but the Vicodin helped. The hotel doeshave a hot tub but I'm not bathing suit skinny or even close but I did bring one. I'm caring less and less about my size lately if the hot tub would help. I also have a couple Salonpas patches with me. Any advice to get me through this weekend. Honestly the worst part are toilets - way too low to the ground. I'm trying to not let dbf see me hurt but he knows and he's great about it but I feel awful.

The hot tub sounds good, and I'd prescribe a couple of nice birthday dinners with drinks/wine!!

What about a couple's massage?
I've found that staying mobile helps muscle soreness related to workouts, too. If I sit around too much my muscles feel tighter and worse. Some short, slow walks, maybe a massage, swimming/hot tub. You'll feel better soon. Aleve helps a little, too. Vicodin seems a little over the top for muscle soreness.

Aleeve and keep moving it. I think the hot tub would help a lot too.

Watermelon is really good for helping sore muscles recover. I forget the exact name of what's in it, but competitive athletes eat it to help with soreness. So maybe some watermelon martinis are in order? Preferably consumed while in the hot tub.

Take your ice bucket to the vending machine & fill it up. Put the ice in a plastic bag & wrap a towel around the bag. Keep it on your leg for 5-10 minutes at a time.

Good ideas! The hot tub did a world of good. It helped immensely. Not sure he would go for a couple massage but maybe I should make an appt with my chiro massage therapist when I get home. I did have a non alcoholic watermelon fizz drink this afternoon so that should help. And I'm still walking and moving it. I think the over exertion coupled with a 5 hour car ride was too little movement for it and it just got worse. I may make it through the weekend now! Thanks!

I have the exact thing going on right now. Left thigh. I've tried everything too. icing it gives some relief but its the worst when I'm standing. It also hurts to climb into bed.

Before knee surgery I'd get that horrible pain that would go to my hip. A hot bath was the only thing that would usually help. I could also do the stretches and exercises in the tub. I think it helped with the swelling. Even after surgery. PT told me it was good way to relax the muscles without straining it. They have those heating pads that vibrate in them that works great too. Hope you get some relief!

Today is much better. I think another turn in the hot tub tonight and I'll be right as rain.

I keep anti inflammatory and muscle relaxers at home for situations like this. My rheumatologist wanted me taking them daily for my fibromyalgia, but they kick my butt and make me too sleepy for daily use. Plus, one of them has an ingredient that isn't good to take long term since it can cause some organ issues. I only use them as needed. This won't help you for this trip, but perhaps consider talking to your doctor to get a small prescription to have on hand if you tend to do this a lot. I also have some of that muscle cream that you can buy over the counter for pulled muscles and small aches and pains. It is helpful to a point too. The added bonus is that is is very moisturizing.
