I work from home and for my job, I receive a lot of scans in PDF format. I'm finding that I occassionally need to break the pages up into separate documents. The only Adobe product I own is Photoshop, and I'm not happy with the quality of the document if I use it to separate the pages. I don't need any other kind of editing tools, or bells and whistles.
Most of the docs contain confidential information, so I need an editor that is on my computer versus the cloud. I could pay for Acrobat, but the price is too high for how often I may be using it (once a month at most). Can anyone recommend an editor that's inexpensive and safe (no malware)?

We use Foxit PhantomPDF at work. I am not sure the cost, but it is cheaper than Adobe.

Our IT guy installed PDF Split and Merge on my computer to do exactly that. It doesn't have any editing tools, but it lets you split pdf files into separate documents (by page) and merge pages together into one document.
As far as I know, it's a freeware program. I use it quite a bit and it works pretty well.

Ooh... I've been looking for something like this too. Adobe Acrobat is ridiculously expensive, and for the amount that I'd need it, I can't justify the cost. But Foxit PhantomPDF looks promising. $89 for the standard version, $129 for the business version. Comparing the two, the standard looks pretty good. Thanks for the suggestion, scrappersue!!!
