I just went online to pay some bills and wonder if I'm on a scam website. This message pops up: We're simplifying the way you sign in You'll soon be able to sign in with one step by entering your Online ID and Passcode on the same page. SiteKey® — the image you now see before entering your Passcode — will no longer be part of the way you sign in to Online and Mobile Banking. This simpler sign-in will be introduced on our different sites before the end of the year. To help ensure you're on the real Bank of America website before you sign in, check your browser address bar for: www.bankofamerica.com Green text/shading Lock icon (And the green text and lock icon do appear under this message too.) Just wondering if this is legit or some elaborate phishing scam. I had to get my 6 digit access code via text message to log on, so that should be legit, right? (I feel like i"m asking a lot of dumb questions today - I'll blame it on allergy fog.) Thanks!

I don't use BofA, but my bank did the same thing. I used to have a SiteKey image, but they changed it to a different security system (same thing with hte green lock.) If you didn't click on a link to the website, and typed in the website name correctly, then it's the real one.
It's not a dumb question at all! I'm pretty tech saavy, and I stupidly got caught and clicked on a spam email and spent 8 hours de-malwaring my computer the other day.

I wondered the same thing when I got that message. I never click on the link from emails anyway. The change is noted, and now I know not to freak out if or when the login looks different.

And sorry about your spam mess. At least you knew what to do about it. I have a lot to learn!

Huh. Back before I ditched BoA, the sitekey was about the only thing I thought they did right ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/OrTI4SBmZ2ZYSFv6ag4f.jpg) I liked the extra security, since I was constantly getting very authentic looking spoofs and phishing emails claiming to be from BofA. With all the authentic looking graphics and everything. Having to scrupulously check every letter and character in a web address seems like it would be more hassle and time-consuming than the the site key process. I still have to do the sitekey thing on the fedloan website, and I'm used to it and really kind of prefer it as an extra security step. I love me some USAA, though and encourage anyone who qualifies to give their banking a try. They are beyond wonderful with online banking and customer service. Real people in the USA kind of customer service when you call, too. Unlike BoA and many other megabanks.

Yeah - I'm seeing that too.
BoA isn't on my favourite list right now because they're selling my local branch and my accounts along with it. Not impressed so far with the bank that's buying so I'm in the market for a new bank or credit union. I've been happy with BoA for years now and would have preferred to have had the option to stay with them - I bank online exclusively so not having a local branch wouldn't have been a big deal but...that doesn't appear to be a choice.

DH and I have been with BOA for over twenty years, since we lived in NYC and now NOVA. We speak to humans as necessary, and they have been truly wonderful whenever we've had issues or questions. They've even gone above and beyond normal client services to reverse a charge or two at our request. Love them!

Feel for the poor elderly or not so bright folks that got taken.... I felt better having the SiteKey too.

We have a mortgage through them for one of our rentals. It was originally CountryWide Mortgage. I loathe B of A. If I want to pay online I have to do it by the 7th or they charge a service fee. Chase doesn't do that. Does anyone else have a mortgage payment with a bank that charges a fee?
