I am having trouble with a clear stamp impression and thought someone here could recommend a good ink for the more detailed stamp image...
Some of my impressions are not coming out clear...
Thank you in advance...Gail

I like Momento. I find that the new Stampin' Up! pads are little juicy and it's hard to get a clear impression. You have to really be careful not to get too much ink on it. Also make sure you're not pushing hard on the paper . Some stamps will kind of smush and muddy the image a bet if you push too hard. I find this happens most often with Polymer stamps, not so much with red rubber stamps.

Thank you Ladies...I am not getting a clear image and thought maybe a different ink would help.

Thank you in advance...Gail Are you using a foam pad underneath your paper (like a mousepad)? This can make a big difference too with the quality of stamped image.

I like Memento and Versafine for detailed stamping. It comes out very crisp.

Also be certain to "season" your stamp. Plus the foam under when you stamp. And if it's acrylic you may need to lightly sand the stamp first.

What is "seasoning"....never heard of that...
I did get a big red color stamping matt at Hobby Lobby...was thinking of cutting it down some...any of you do that?
I found the Momento ink and still want to find the Versafine as well...it has been some time since I have stamped and thought just going back to the basic stamping will make me feel like I can still do...know what I mean...I got so overwhelmed with new products, techniques that I stopped everything...the enjoyment went out of it.

Another vote for VersaFine. It is the BEST ink I've ever used for clear stamps (and all the other ones I have too). I wish they would make more colors.

Seasoning can mean ink up your stamp and stamp off on a scrap piece of paper a few times just to get the coating off the stamp before inking and stamping on your good card stock. Or it may mean taking an eraser and light rubbing it on the stamp. For me stamping off a few times works well.

When I was making my D D's wedding invitations I found a stamp that was almost perfect. I love the phrase and the font that it was written in. But I did not like the heart with that. So I cut it apart into two stamps. I did use the heart on the thank you notes that I made for her with the phrase. I run across your picture on my cell phone frequently. That was so much fun meeting you!

Yep. Seasoning means using it before you USE it. Lol! Ink it and use it on scrap paper then lightly sand it if the ink is beading up.

I'm a huge Versafine fan. Most of my stamps are clear.

same here scrappaddie, bet you have some nice pics of your travels...
Kate, that Versafine is hiding when I am out and about so I will have to order on line. In the meantime I am using the Menentos ink and that has helped and the padding underneath it ...
Thank you Ladies...I did stamp out some images and have a small table upstairs and spent some time coloring them using the Gamsol and Prismacolor pencils...it has been a few years since I got them out to create...if you don't have the coloring book craze going on try stamping several different stamps and have them ready to color...just a thought...have fun...
