I am not surprised that people are doing this. Just when you think people cannot possibly become more vain, they come up with stuff like this...
Personally; hell no!

Ummmmmm NO! Not for me.
Although I'd try not to judge someone who's going to do it. As long as it's truly for themselves and no one is making them do it. I mean is it really any different than always hating your nose, or getting breast implants? To each their own.

I can see if it was medically necessary for some of the reasons stated in the article but to do it for plastic surgery sake, um no thanks I'll pass.

I clicked over expecting to be outraged, but I'm really not. She didn't do it for cosmetic reasons. And, even if she did, so what? We have women get boob jobs all the time to repair the aftereffects of breast feeding. How is this, repairing the vagina after childbirth, any different?
The only time I would be concerned is if someone did it for their partner, but that goes for anything... Even a particular hairstyle or wearing clothes you don't like because your partner does.
Otherwise, rock on.

I can't even see most of my lady parts. So I would do it if like the woman in the article, it would help me. But not just for looks

Personally I wouldn't do it (although my BFF and I were joking about the old "nip and tuck" recently!).
But I remember reading an article years ago, and a couple of women talked about how they were so self conscious about their "bits" that it really affected their confidence in bed, and made them much more inhibited. I guess I wouldn't judge anyone for doing it.

A wee bit of sensationalism over some procedures that have been around a very long time!
I'm not in private practice anymore, but I did assist with a small number of these as a resident and had a couple when I was in private practice. Most were not simply for "looks" but for discomfort of varying degrees. Other "vaginal rejuvenation" procedures (aka vaginoplasty) were done for scarring. It's really not the huge deal this article is making it out be. I suspect a few gyns are creating this as their subspeciality and this getting more publicity.

I've read other articles about "rejuvenations" and cutting the inner and outer labia for "cosmetic" reasons.
I think some people get a bit confused by the word "cosmetic" because even though Ms. Oliphant in the article had physical problems with her labia, her surgery was still considered "cosmetic".
I think there's less women getting these surgeries for purely asthetic reasons that we'd be led to believe. I have read about young British women who didn't like the way they looked, but they were on the end of the bell curve. Their labia bulged out of their swimsuits, and I can imagine that would be embarrassing, and I don't want to think about the pain involved if the labia got pinched.
I was glad to read about rejuvenation techniques. I can't take any sort of estrogen, even the creams, and I am having severe issues. Intercorse isn't possible. I'm glad to know that there's more that I can do about the situation, and it definitely isn't "cosmetic". I'm not looking forward to having these treatments done, but our sex life is worth it. Dh's testosterone levels are coming back to normal after 4 years of them being the lowest his doctors have ever seen.
We're really excited that our love life will be more than a memory really soon.
