On reading about using hot coffee rather than water in a recipe in the 'favorite cake' thread (which sounds WONDERFUL to me!) I was reminded that I use brewed coffee in the liquid whenever I cook a pot roast. I think a friend of mom's gave me that idea.
I add other stuff for flavoring in the gravy as well, depending on my mood and what's on hand.
What ways do you use coffee that are not traditional?

Just to add to anything chocolate (chocolate cake, a bit in chocolate frosting). I love buttercream icing with some instant coffee added to the liquid, to make coffee icing.

To make red-eye gravy for ham. (It's a southern thing.)
And for Tiramisu!

I use old coffee grounds as a body scrub. Do you just collect them in a container and take them into the bathroom? Or add more ingredients too the scrub first?

Red eye gravy!
Dilute leftover coffee in water and use it to water my houseplants and garden flowers (they love it)
Extra strong coffee makes a great bbq recipe for ribs. It sounds wierd but it's really delicious.

When we composted, we added a big bag every month or so. Some Starbucks have them out for grabs, others you have to ask. It adds something to the soil, but I forget what.

Drinking it would be an out of the box use for me. I only make it for the other reasons listed.

I use old coffee grounds as a body scrub. Do you just collect them in a container and take them into the bathroom? Or add more ingredients too the scrub first? I used to add it to coconut oil before I realized it was clogging up the pipes. now I just toss them in a jar and use them whenever the urge hits.

coffee grounds in the soil keep my hydrangeas blue. Fresh or after they've been used to brew a pot? I've done both. I've done old, unused grounds and newly brewed ones. I just dry them before they get scattered into the dirt. I don't know if that matters but I've always done it that way.

Fresh coffee grounds can be used as a deodorizer in a refrigerator. Seriously.
Years ago when we were first married and bought our first house, my DH's aunt gave us her old refrigerator. Turned out it was just a "loaner". Out of the blue one day, she called and said she wanted it back. Um. Okay. The problem was, she had moved a couple of thousand miles away (we were in Indiana, she was in California).
She found a cross country mover that would come and pick it up, but because it was just one item, it would take a least 3 weeks before it would get to her. So, we get another call from her, telling us to fill old socks and panty hose legs full of coffee grounds and put in the freezer and refrigerator before shipping it. (Now there's a visual for you.) She was worried that the long storage time would make the refrigerator smell bad.
We didn't drink coffee at that time, so we had to ask friends, neighbors, co-workers and other family members to save their coffee grounds for us. (Yeah, that was weird.) I don't remember how many bundles of coffee grounds we ended up with, but it was a lot. We put the grounds in the refrigerator, the movers came and wrapped the refrigerator up and off it went to California. She didn't get her refrigerator for close to 2 months (it took an unplanned detour to Texas).
When she finally received it, the inside smelled like coffee - duh, of course! It took a week of leaving it stand open before the coffee smell faded, but after that it was fine. I still occasionally use coffee grounds in my frig to freshen it if I don't have baking soda.

We use it to dye eggs at Easter. i know that may sound like an odd color choice, but they were actually quite pretty.

I make refrigerator oatmeal with instant espresso. So good, and I think the more ways to get coffee in my body the better!

I use coffee grounds on our blueberry plants and on roses -- adds acid to the soil, plus it's organic matter to help with clay.
And I am shocked nobody has mentioned coffee enemas yet. Not a use I would every put a coffee bean to, but it's a trendy and happening thing, apparently.

I use it to give paper an aged/antique look. That's what I use coffee for. Like anonrefugee, I don't drink it, I just use it for creative purposes.

This board was where I learned that "coffee cake" in some parts of the world means "cake that you serve with coffee", but here it means coffee flavoured cake with delicious coffee flavoured icing. YUM!
Back in the day when I used to scrapbook, I used coffee grounds mixed with a tiny amound of water to stain cardstock. Then I bought some <insert name of product that looks like instant coffee but I can't remember what it's called>.

Wasn't the product name forgotten Walnut ink?
Or am I thinking of a different shade of distressed brown.

I put some unbrewed coffee grounds in a paper coffee filter and stuck it inside a cedar chest at the cabin. My MIL had left mothballs in it for a LONG time. Ugh, did that thing stink! Apparently she didn't know the chest could be refreshed by just sanding it on the inside. I'll update in a couple weeks when I check it to see if it finally worked, this was the second winter I left the grounds sitting inside it trying to get rid of the stink.

I cut open used Keurig coffee k-cups and sprinkle the grounds over the trash in the kitchen garbage can; helps keep those damned gnats and other humid-air-loving-icky bugs away. It really helps.
I add some instant coffee to make chocolate mousse in a 'cream whipper'.
