I was searching through looking for something to watch and it recommended a Hitler program based on me watching "Inside Chipotle". And a few days ago it recommended a zombie movie because I'd watched "Blackfish". Dang it I love Chipotle too. Not sure I can support them anymore now that I know they have ties to Hitler. I get the strangest recommendations! Everyone has such different tastes in my family, so it ends up being the oddest hodgepodge of suggestions that nobody likes.

Me too, I use netflix to watch ScI Fi and sitcoms and my husband uses it to watch learning/discovery shows. It gets very confused!

you do know you can set up each family member with a profile.

I never pay attention to their recommendations, in fact I wish they wouldn't make recommendations, I can search for movies on my own.

Yeah, weird Netflix recommendations sometimes here, too. Along the same lines, due to the gifts of books I've bought for my three daughters over the years, Amazon thinks I'm REALLY into trashy teen novels

you do know you can set up each family member with a profile. This was my fave thing they added. I hated the recommendations because they were based on a son who loves horror a daughter who loves anime and me who loves history and fluff.

you do know you can set up each family member with a profile. But alas, I seem to be the only one who actually uses their own profile. Everyone else appears to think that because mine was set up first, and therefore the first in line, it is fair game. And the crap that these kids watch mess up my system.

I realize it's not a "thinking" person, but some kind of algorithm . . . but, dang, you'd think it could figure out that kids don't read picture books forever!

you do know you can set up each family member with a profile. That only works if anyone in the house actually pays attention to it Right now DH and I are watching MI5, so we have a list full of dark thrillers for suggestions. And Bob's Burgers. And Leave it to Beaver.

We don't have kids, but my nieces and nephew stay over often - I'll have to try the profiles thing. We thought using the "kids" one would keep the kid suggestions over there, but the last time one stayed after watching a couple of the "Buddies" movies with the dogs, all of our netflix suggestions on the main one are kids/animal movies.

I assume the main problem is that Netflix only has limited movies on their system and many of them are whack anyway. I've come to the conclusion that Netflix is valuable mostly for their proprietary series. The movie selection on Netflix is abysmal.

I also wish they'd give you the option of just an A-Z listing of all their movies available for streaming. I read on their website somewhere that there's 9200 titles available for instant streaming and I KNOW I'm not seeing that many options.

Netflix thinks I'm gay, based on my enjoyment of movies with a strong female lead.

Netflix thinks I'm gay, based on my enjoyment of movies with a strong female lead. I get those too, apparently because I watched the Hunger Games. They may want to tweak their algorithms.

I watched Hunger Games too. Maybe it wasn't just Jenn Gardner that caused the confusion.
