In huskergirl's thread 'question about a song' giatocj says there are a couple of songs that make her want to cry.
How about you? Is there a song or piece of music that makes you want to tear up.
For me it is Amazing Grace. Even just hearing the music will make me choke up.

OMG! I was just thinking about this. Driving home I heard "I Hope You Dance" by Lee Ann Womack. Sitting in traffic crying like a baby... Here, go watch and cry with me We played "If I Had Only Known" by Reba McEntire at my dad's funeral. It... brings the ugly cry. If I had only known. Hallelujah also chokes me up, but KD Lang at the Olympics... Powerful. Video!And... Blessed by Martina McBride. This is my song for my girls. We love to dance to it and they love to laugh at me as tears stream down my face... Blessed

Florence + The Machine's Shake It OutMy sister-in-law lost my niece at 9 months pregnant last May, 3 weeks before her due date. This song played at my girls' dance recital a few week's later. The oldest group (so, HS Seniors) did their lyrical dance to it and I just cried at every recital to it. The whole "I keep dragging that horse around" and "Its always darkest before the dawn"- it just made me think of my SIL and how sad I felt for her. Really, every lyric. Just listen. Anyway, yeah. I still have it on my running playlist (I know, I have a weird taste in workout music lol) and I could be just coming off some crazy song like something by Metallica and BAM - this comes on and I'll still cry mid-run.

It just touched me so much and I see those scenes in my head whenever I hear the song. I'm so sorry about your sister-in-law and niece. www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZxC2soN5BIAnother Glee cast song that gets me every time is Cough Syrup, playing in the background when a football player on the show took his own life. www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdfuhAoA_9MAnd yes on Amazing Grace and also America the Beautiful. The Dance by Garth Brooks always makes me cry thinking of the loss of my dad.

Old Rugged Cross...and I am totally and completely a non-believer. I think it has to do with going to church with my grandma as a child but that song always brings tears to my eyes.

That character, Karofsky, was contemplating suicide, but didn't do it. In the series he actually ended up in a relationship with Blaine, Darren Criss, who is singing that song. Yes, I watched Glee to the end. Great show to run on treadmill to.
I cry at many religious songs that remind me of someone's funeral and this one by Faith Hill.

Broken Together - Casting Crowns My sister and her husband are going through some stuff, I heard this song on the radio one day and it just gives me goose bumps and tears EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I told her about the song, I still don't know if she has listened to it yet or not. I would think she would tell me if she did, but who knows!

This isn't a tear jerker by any means but Spanish Eyes (no idea who it's by) reminds me of being danced around the kitchen on my Dads feet when I was small. Not sure if it's the song or the memory that makes me cry if hear it now.

Remember When by Alan Jackson still brings a tear to my eye. Way back when ex and I were supposed to be "working" on our relationship, that song came out and we had used it as a "goal" of sorts. I had wanted so badly the whole "came together, fell apart, found love again" to be true. Alas, it wasn't meant to be. It's not played very often so sometimes I'll hear it and I'd get choked up. I change the station or skip the song if it catches me on a bad day. I still like it though.
Amazing Grace was my grandma's favorite song. When she learned that one of my cousins was learning to play the bagpipes, she insisted that he play them at her funeral. She would tell anyone who listened that she wanted Todd to play his bagpipes at her funeral for nearly 6 years. At the funeral, he did. OMG, there was not a dry eye in the house. I can't share the video here but if anyone wants to see it, I could share it in the pea group on FB. What kills me when I see it is that my cousin looks exactly like my grandpa (who passed in '97). It's kinda freaky.

Silent House by the Dixie Chicks brings me back to my father's death. Very painful, and I always cry.
This is an oldie, but the Irish folk song: Curragh of Kildare can make me cry if it's sung by just the right person.

I'm pretty sure the only song that makes me cry no matter what else is going on, is Amazing Grace, especially when played on the bag pipes! What is it about that combo?? Kind of haunting and sad and hopeful all at the same time.

The Beatles, "Let it Be." Reminds me of someone I once cared for very deeply. John Lennon "Imagine." Love that song. TSO's "Old City Bar" - such a wonderfully moving song. The lyrics that get me are:
"If you want to arrange it This world you can change it If we could somehow make this Christmas thing last
By helping a neighbor Or even a stranger And to know who needs help You need only just ask"
Of course it's even more moving in the context of the story told throughout the whole album/show.
I'm sure there are a couple more, but this is just off the top of my head.

Have I Told You Lately That I Love You by Van Morrison. My late DH and I always stopped what we were doing and danced to this song whenever we heard it Also Amazing Grace because it was sung at his funeral.

I am such a goof ball-I am a sucker for the patriotic songs. There is nothing like being in a stadium with 85 thousand people who are all singing the National Anthem with the flags flying and hands/hats over hearts.
