I know there is a cycle to "looks"/style/fashion. But I just can't find anything in the SB arena to look at anymore -- including new products!
I'm really starting to drop bookmarks. There are scrap and card people whom I've had bookmarked for years -- who simply aren't producing (bloggers really just can't take a 2 week break!) or aren't producing anything I want to see (I just do NOT do anthropomorphic animals), or producing in a manner I find undesirable (process videos where the creator just turns on the video and films everything being done.)
I haven't really shopped in many months -- we lost our local stores and the big box just don't seem to be carrying anything I find interesting, and because of that, I can't get too excited about shopping on line where I can't even see the real product, especially since most on-line stores don't create good descriptions or provide dimensions.
I have ideas for albums. I have pictures I want to save in a creative manner. But nothing in the industry is sparking my enthusiasm!
Anyone else have this sense of scrapbook ennui?

I have found that people are generally moving away from a blog content. Not only are the readers dropping and moving to social media (and YouTube), but the bloggers themselves aren't posting enough content to keep their readers. Or have stopped blogging. It's a lot of work, so I don't blame them.
I have found PLENTY to inspire me, mostly through Pinterest. I follow manufacturers on Pinterest and Instagram and get all sorts of inspiration there to pin. I also love to look at some of the Kit Club galleries like Hit Kit Club, Studio Calico (sometimes, bc other times the stuff kinda starts to look the same), Gossamer Blue etc. If I want to watch some scrapping I just search on YouTube and let it suggest videos for me to watch. I do like watching (some) process videos, though, so that might not be your cup of tea. I also have enjoyed watching haul videos b/c sometimes seeing product inspires me to use mine. I know that's not for everyone either.

Thanks for the ideas to help inspire me. I know I'm picky, but I apparently need to broaden my scope, I guess!

alissa103 - I never thought to follow manufacturers on Pinterest! Thanks for the tip. I'm definitely going to check it out.

It is the reason I finally joined a kit club. I resisted for so long, but they have updated items and I have enjoyed making pages and canvases with just about everything. I don't always order the kit for any given month, but enough so that I get new things.

It's too bad you think bloggers can't take a two week break. I guess we aren't allowed to have families, be busy, be uninspired (like you are) while giving away free content.

Ashley -- not at all. Any blogger can, certainly, take a break. But I find those breaks, disruptive and annoying since I use them for a "recess" of sorts - for inspiration - for fun -- for a break from my daily work. Since many of them are trying to make a living by monetizing their "followers" ... or sell them something .. taking a break is like having the "store" closed for an extended period. If I go to a store several days and find nothing new or the store closed, then I'm probably looking for a new store. There are other bloggers -- who monetize their blog -- who schedule posts for broadcast at a later time, or arrange guest posts or something. And, frankly, I don't know any blog where I "take" free content -- except the words I read or the pictures I look at. Most of what I see for free is "printables" or "cut files -- neither of which I use.
Further let's not forget their underlying purpose isn't necessarily altruism but most likely a hook to increase the readership number for a YouTube benefit or a bigger advertiser check.
And finally -- a closure is only 1 example I stated of failing to find inspiration in the scrabpook arena -- but your statement I think actually supports my point. If the scrapbook bloggers are also "uninspired", then I fear the arena really is in trouble!

Now that I think about it, I'm finding less inspiration recently, too. I've never been into reading blogs. I loved the gallery at two peas and still miss it. Now I find most of my inspiration on Pinterest. I've had periods of time like this before, and when I do I just go back to what is comfortable or something I pinned that I meant to try or never did. Although, I will say that I'm not inspired by new supplies as much as I am by what is visually appealing to me such as technique, color combination, or paper/embellishment placement.

I had a long post written out, but then I decided that maybe I misunderstood your question, so I will go section by section:
New products: Unless I plan on inventing them, there is nothing I can do except to make suggestions to the designers/manuf. It is what it is. ETA: I am not that creative anyway. I don't actually have any suggestions at the moment.
Bloggers: I also have dropped bloggers either because they are not posting anymore, or no longer the style I am interested in. I don't mind if they take a break because I have many options, but if the break lasts what seems like forever, I eventually drop them also. I easily find many replacements:
Blogger's blog hops Googling product images Pinterest <<< also my best replacement of the 2Peas gallery Youtube Instagram Manufacturers blogs + Design Team blogs
Shopping: Unless I online shop, my options are limited to stuff I am not really interested in. If I am on the fence about something, I either look on the manuf. website/blog, or google and usually find a "live" image or video. Google Images is the bomb!
Your album ideas/pictures: See the above list, or think outside the box in other areas besides the sb arena. Have you ever seen a printed ad and thought...this would be a great idea for a layout!

Like many of you, I miss the 2Peas Gallery; it was my primary source for inspiration. I do not participate in social media (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest) or follow any scrappers' blogs. I sometimes use sketches, which I've accumulated over the years, & find inspiration outside of the scrapbook industry (e.g. advertisements, art pieces, nature). Best wishes...

For those of you looking for 2peas gallery replacements, please go check out the galleries at scrapbook.com and acherryontop.com They are active, lots of styles are represented, manufacturer design teams post in their galleries, etc. Lots of eye candy in those!
Going back to blogs, I think another issue with them is that we don't have a ton of new bloggers. As old favorites quit posting or quit scrapping, the format has become less popular for new folks to fill their shoes. The new people might be blogging, but might be harder to discover unless through a blog hop or accident. or they are on YouTube, which is trendier right now in our hobby. They are on social media. They are out there. You just have to go look. Maybe we need a favorite boards to follow, favorite youtubers and favorite IGers thread?!
Manufacturer blogs are still updated regularly. Search your fave companies and then look for their sidebar of designers. I'm sure you'll find links to their blogs and other places where they post their work.

I joined a couple of different kit clubs to see which sparked my creativity. Ive stayed with Gossamer Blue and really like the kits they send. I browse Pinterest for inspiration from the big companies and small scrappers and it gives me a good variety. Good luck!

OP-I wonder if it is you? You use the words "I am not interested in..." or "I don't find desirable..." That signals to me that maybe your interest is waning in the scrapbooking world. I have found many bloggers that I like through Pinterest or through other blogs that keep me going back for more. The industry is certainly changing and will just as other hobbies have come and gone.

I can really only comment on shopping because I have never really been a follower of blogs or youtube videos. I used to shop for scrapbook supplies all the time. It was fun and there were so many different options. About two years ago everything started to look the same. I would shop online at my favorite stores and more often than not I couldn't tell the difference between the companies unless I knew which one I clicked on. Oh look, mint and coral and kraft and something "vintage" looking. Again and again and again. Then the same thing with the gold accents. Somewhere along the way I just quit looking.
Today I got an email from A Cherry On Top about a sale. Having just scrapbooked a couple of layouts with a friend on Friday I decided I would take a look and see what was new and maybe replenish some things. Nope. Everything looks the same as it did last year. Same color schemes and themes. And if it is a little bit different, it's ugly. The last time I bought any scrapbook supplies was in September 2014 and here I am and I couldn't find a single thing I wanted to buy. It's depressing. But at least it's saving me money.

I guess like others I'm following fewer blogs and blogging less myself because it's so time consuming. I still shop at a few favourite stores (all online now) but buy less because I already have a lot of tools and products. I did change things up by subbing to the SC PL kit last year and find that and the odd GB kit has enough new products to keep my interest and keep me creating. I do use Pinterest and, increasingly, Instagram so thanks for the suggestion to follow manufacturers

I miss the days when everybody was posting to 2peas and scrapbook.com. I still visit the SB.com gallery, but it doesn't seem to be as busy as it used to be.
There are plenty of blogs that I follow on Bloglovin though. In fact, most of my scrapbooking inspiration comes from blogs now.
I haven't gotten on board with Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, and Facebook (for Scrapbooking inspiration). It's just too much. It was so much easier when there was a central place to go to.

I am not really interested by blogs anymore, because even if the layouts posted are beautiful, they are usually not the style I want to do. Lastly, I like to make more double layouts for example. I took a break from scrapbooking at the beginning of the year, wondering what I really love to do. For me, it's making my own kits with my own embellishments, using sketches (often scrapbook generation lately, maybe something else later), using what I have as if it was new... When I found the answer, I felt great and so inspired! Maybe you need to take a break, or find a new way to be inspired ? Look at your previous layouts/albums, try to find which ones you enjoyed making the most, ask yourself if you could find the same enjoyment again... For me, as I said, it's the counterfeit kit blog (and also close online friends).

I have never been a blog follower on any kind of regular basis...if someone posts something I want to read that is relevant I read it, but I don't go out of my way to follow anyone in particular. So I can't help there. i am also not one of the huge Pintrest users, but I do know a lot of people love it. I, personally like You Tube videos, I find those incredibly useful and inspiring. You can find people showing off product (useful if you only shop online and like me loathe the computer generated pictures), showing new techniques, album flip throughs, teaching things, it is GREAT! I think since American Crafts has taken over as sort of an umbrella company for a lot of smaller companies there is a sameness to a lot of lines. Sometimes that is okay, but at times things need a freshening up. I am actually incredibly lucky and actually have a real brick and mortar LSS within walking distance from my house. Crazy, I know. I don't go there all that often anymore, however because the owner buys a lot of stuff like Imaginesence and that just isn't my style. I shopped around and tried a number of kits here and there, and eventually I decided Studio Calico was for me. I resisted for a long time, but they just make things I feel are interesting and different and even if their kits aren't maybe the most product for the money I LOVE their community and I actually USE my kits immediately and use them up. I also love Freckled Fawn they sell kits as well as fun and interesting embellishments that are different than a lot of other companies. I haven't purchased anything from ashley at things that Shine(I promise I will soon!) but I have considered it a bunch of times. She has adorable and unique embellishments. I think it really depends on what kind of style you like, what companies/styles in the past appealed to you. Waht can you pull from your stash now and say "I still LOVE this!"...if you can give me some ideas perhaps I could help steer you in the right direction. Do you like clean and simple? Mixed media? Floral and romantic...prima style? Shabby chic? vintage? Super Graphic?

OP, I would agree that my enthusiasm for the products and lines that are coming out is waning, too. It does feel like they are just re-doing a lot and there isn't as much for fresh designs. On the other hand, I have so much (most of which I still love) that hasn't been touched, I don't need anything more right now! And I have been doing more cardmaking rather than scrapbooking lately, which doesn't get me through my existing products very quickly. I have really felt like scrapbooking trends were changing much too quickly for my pace, anyway, so if it slows down a little I'd be fine with that. I just don't want to see any more starting to disappear, which is why I think AC having taken on so much may be okay, so they stick around.
I don't tend to do a lot of looking for inspiration, anyway, but my faves are Studio Calico's member gallery (their designer gallery has gotten to be lacking in the last few months, IMO) and I use Feedly on my iPhone to browse SB blogs...I only look about once a week or so, but if you are able to, it would simplify you having to keep checking out blogs that aren't updated - they show up on Feedly when there are updates. I think there is alot of great stuff on Pinterest, too, although I tend to not use it very often.
In general, I think there is an overwhelming amount of scrapbook/crafting inspiration online....although I may get through a lot less content then you are able to.

Huh. I am definitely in the minority here because I am loving so much of the scrapbook styles right now. Every new line that comes out I think "oh crap, I have to have that!" As for inspiration, I love instagram. I follow so many scrapbookers, manufacturers, designers, etc. I love all the different styles and inspiration that I can find on instagram. then of course there is Pinterest, which is inspiration crack. Great ideas everywhere I turn! I just need to get off the darn phone and go scrap!

While this thread makes me kinda' sad, it also reinforces why I'm starting some new things on my scrapbook blog - that I've had since 2007. I think there are so many things about scrapbooking to still be excited about but I also think our focus has shifted in a lot of ways, at least those of us who have been scrapbooking for a long time. I have so many fun ideas that my head is just swimming - not layout ideas but things to talk about, ways to approach our industry, how to have fun and be productive, etc. I know some people are down on paid memberships right now so although I'll be offering that, I'll also have a free membership option - in addition to the free newsletter I've started. I also started a blog/site that's ONLY about scrapbooking organization. I think a lot of have so much stuff (or even if we don't) and organizing it has become half the fun! (If not more?? heh). I always find it interesting that scrappers say they don't turn to blogs any more for inspiration but mostly use Pinterest - but what is Pinterest? Links to blog posts, for the most part, LOL. Maybe it's that scrappers don't follow *particular* blogs anymore but instead access tons of them via Pinterest. But if bloggers weren't still producing free content, there would be nothing new to Pin. So I'm glad blogguhs keep bloggin'. I also think sometimes there's nothing wrong with taking a break from a hobby if it's not exciting you any more. Maybe if you come back to it in 6 months, you'll see it with fresh eyes Or maybe you'll find something else you love instead.

Oh look, mint and coral and kraft and something "vintage" looking. Again and again and again. Then the same thing with the gold accents. Somewhere along the way I just quit looking. This exactly. And even when there were more manufacturers out there, the handful of stores around here that were left all carried the exact same things! How dumb is that? I've never understood why so many stores would stick to filling all their shelves with products that all have the same look. I can use vintage in about 2% of what I'm currently wanting to scrap. I have a little kid and I'm constantly looking for fun bright colors, cute designs and kid themes and the only place I can find any of that is online. I can't be the only person in the world raising a preschooler! For example, last weekend I was off with my friends for the weekend and we hit a couple stores along our route. I was specifically looking for preschool themed things (nothing new and what was in the stores was pretty ugly), swimming lesson stuff (nothing at ALL), birthday for little girls specifically (found a little, but not much). I just don't get it! I think I spent most of my money on dies for small stuff I don't want to goof around firing up my laptop and cutter for. In contrast, in the digital scrapping world there is so much variety out there you can almost always find something for anything imaginable. I'm glad I have an impressive stash of traditional supplies, because what's available in the stores currently is just plain sad. I do follow a few bloggers for my favorite companies and find some inspiration there, as well as some from Pinterest and some from the online magazines although I don't get around to looking at them as often as the other sources. I'm so sad that all of the scrapping magazines have imploded. It was always so fun to get a fresh batch of inspiration delivered straight to my door every month.

Maybe you might be interested in CREATE magazine, which we publish free every other month. The May issue (319 pages and hundreds of projects) just came out yesterday, and there are 13 past issues available on our website. We have several reasons for publishing the magazine -- as a "thanks" to people for shopping with us, to help fill the gap since there are no more print magazines, and to show how valuable our sketches can be as both an inspiration and a time-saver. In addition to projects by our 36-member CREATE team, we feature a manufacturer each issue with fun facts about the company and projects by THEIR design team. The May issue features both Paper House and My Favorite Things. Past manufacturers include Simple Stories, My Mind's Eye, Echo Park, Carta Bella, Heidi Swapp, Teresa Collins, Doodlebug, Authentique, Jillibean Soup, Pink Paislee, Fancy Pants, Sizzix, and BoBunny. Here's a link if you want to check them out. CREATE magazine

loydene,
I feel your pain! I do look at Pinterest quite a bit, but lately, I have started re-copying old layouts that I did several years ago. I like to do lumpy-bumpy two-page layouts, too.
I will always scrap, but I think the industry has really slowed down, and there isn't anything that hasn't been done already.

This hobby has for some time now reminded me of quilting, knitting, etc - I mean how much new is under the sun? Not much if anything. I found my personal style long ago and for me I do not need any inspiration other than having what I need on hand to create pages I like. For me that is patterned theme paper preferablly, stickers, embellies and my beloved enamel dots, which are my most recent addition to my pages.
with all that has been on the market, I just can't imagine needing more new stuff/techniques/inspiration, but I do not scrapbook for the creative expression, and i know many people do. I like to make pleasing pictures, but I am the type of scrapbooker who scraps primarily to get my photos into albums in pleasing ways that tell my story.
Just my take on it and fully aware that my way is my own and not everyone's.
