I don't know, I feel like there is always something new. I feel live there is so much inspiration and product and I have so little time and money lol. I already have a huge stash and I when look for inspiration I get lost for hours looking at inspiration. Too many ideas lol.

I have noticed blog content dropping off but I don't understand the comments here about bloggers not feeling appreciated for their free content. As a sales/marketing professional, I can tell you there are plenty of ways to monetize blog content so if you're doing it for completely free, that is your decision and your business model. If you are upset about not being "compensated" in some way, figure out a way to make that happen. There are plenty of ways to generate a revenue stream from blog content and if you don't know how to do that, there are plenty of classes available from folks who have mastered that skill. I cannot imagine anyone is begrudging anyone else's family time or higher priority commitments. Scrapbooking is an extra in life: not Job One. I'm relatively certain that bloggers AND blog readers understand that. No one is criticizing blogging, just commenting on the (seemingly) decreasing amount of posting content that seems to be occuring lately, that's all. I know in the past few months, there have been announcements of blogs shutting down or bloggers moving into a new area of interest. For everything there is a season and it seems that scrapping is approaching its' end. Of course, it won't be THE END: there are still folks who macrame, needlepoint, decoupage, make lace or tatting, etc. Scrapbooking will never be fully gone as long as there are weddings and celebrations, babies being born, milestone birthdays, family reunions, grandparents passing away, family stories that want and need to be told, etc.
As far as the marketplace goes, I'm finding that the turnaround time (from "new" product to stuff which is perceived as "older") in places like TM is getting shorter: I assume that could be from stores closing and/or manufacturers clearing their warehouses of product. As the number of manufacturers has dwindled, it seems there are brand boutiques under one (or maybe more) corporate umbrellas. I'm also guessing that maybe when the LSS didn't have the sales levels they anticipated, orders were cut either by the stores themselves or by the manus putting some of the LSS on credit hold and not shipping product.
As a longtime scrapper, I remember all the hoopla and excitement over CHA: that doesn't seem to exist anymore or if it does, it's somewhere I am not aware of. I think Project Life and all the premade cards and embellies have taken away some of the industry that enjoyed the art of papercrafting but it might have expanded the general amount of scrappers. The diehards dropped off but the FB folks discovered pocket pages.
I miss the old days of paperpiecing and sharing patterns and I'm glad I still have plenty of stash. I haven't figured out if I scrap less because my kids are growing up and leaving the nest or because there's not much new and exciting other than product cycling back to the tried and true of ten years ago. Whatever it is, I do miss the thrill and excitement of a new magazine issue in the mail and seeing 2P's gallery change daily. ((sigh)).

I love Pinterest, scrapbook.com, acherryontop.com, and YouTube for inspiration... I follow bloggers on Instagram now because it's a quick way to see what's happening, and then I can go to their blog if I want more info/pictures/product info... I also used Feedly to follow bloggers... I add a bunch of blogs to both Instagram and Feedly - I don't keep track of how often bloggers post... When they post it shows up for me and I go from there... As someone who has a modest/boring blog herself, I try to upload one post a week... If I have a couple of projects made and photographed then I'll write and schedule a couple weeks worth of posts... But I started my blog after 2Ps closed as a way to share my stuff (I hadn't found scrapbook.com or ACOT at that time)... I don't get many visitors, only a small percentage comment or message me... It would never occur to me that people were expecting a certain rate of posts... I don't share my personal life (work, illnesses, family stuff), on my blog because I'm not a brand and not interested in having so much of my life out there... But like others have mentioned, all the same life things happen to me too (big things are shift work, home/seasonal projects, illnesses, no mojo)... If you're looking for what peers are doing, you'll probably find more posting inconsistencies in those blogs - so switch to manufacturer blogs or to site galleries (stores, kit clubs, hobby clubs, etc)... Don't mean to sound bristly because I know it's frustrating when you can't find scrappy stuff to get into

I can really only comment on shopping because I have never really been a follower of blogs or youtube videos. I used to shop for scrapbook supplies all the time. It was fun and there were so many different options. About two years ago everything started to look the same. I would shop online at my favorite stores and more often than not I couldn't tell the difference between the companies unless I knew which one I clicked on. Oh look, mint and coral and kraft and something "vintage" looking. Again and again and again. Then the same thing with the gold accents. Somewhere along the way I just quit looking. Today I got an email from A Cherry On Top about a sale. Having just scrapbooked a couple of layouts with a friend on Friday I decided I would take a look and see what was new and maybe replenish some things. Nope. Everything looks the same as it did last year. Same color schemes and themes. And if it is a little bit different, it's ugly. The last time I bought any scrapbook supplies was in September 2014 and here I am and I couldn't find a single thing I wanted to buy. It's depressing. But at least it's saving me money. I was trying to think of a way to respond and you said it perfectly! My exact reasons for feeling uninspired. I occasionally would check out blogs before google reader shut down. I would find a blogger I liked, they got on a design team, that product was posted the most, and then there were giveaways where you had to enter and post on social media in order to be chosen. I didn't care if there were breaks. I no longer felt I was missing much in terms of free content. I'm also not a fan of process videos unless it is a demonstration on a technique. When reader closed, I forgot to move my bookmarks elsewhere. I haven't missed them. I prefer pinterest. All I need is a picture of something; I'm a simple scrapper.

I don't understand why there are so few new products in traditional color schemes. I've been trying to find products in a navy blue/olive combo or navy blue/tan scheme and have found very few options.
i like some of the current color combos, but would like to mix up my pages between new and more traditional.

I am not feeling underwhelmed by this season's releases, honestly. I do agree that some of the studios have put out lines that build on past lines (Crate Paper is a serial offender: Open Road vs. Journey, The Pier vs. Poolside, Notes & Things vs. Craft Market). That doesn't bother me because I liked those lines, though. But there are some studios doing dramatically different lines too. Basic Grey, which spent a solid year pushing out hipster stuff (Hipster, Mint Julep, Capture, Carte Postale), has turned heel and moved to graphic designs like Adrift and the marvelously art deco celestially themed Aurora. Amy Tan's stuff builds on the old. Dear Lizzy's doesn't. Shimelle's stayed bold and flipped to solid primary colors. Pebbles impressively holds onto a distinctive style while still being themey. BoBunny, a company not my style at all, has had several unusual lines lately that really stand out (Candy Cane Lane, Altitude) from the pack. The "gems" are there, but they require more digging than they used to for sure, digging that is probably not at all worth it to people who already have reams of pretty paper stocked up.
As to the blog topic, I run five blogs, only one scrappy-related, and one of them (not the scrappy one) is a professional blog employing multiple copywriters. The only one I worry about constant content is that one -- the one that puts food on my table. I'm shocked that people expect virtually unpaid hobby bloggers to push out a constant stream of entertainment under threat of being deleted from someone's bookmarks. Stick it in an RSS reader and it'll tell you when there's content, problem solved.

Great discussion, all! Some very well-reasoned points of view, respectful, minor disagreement and generous sharing of info.

I'm not a big Pinterest user- so I just follow ashley on Pinterest. Or maybe that's called stalking:) great projects and eye candy. I also check in with @journeyfan's blog for new release information, and @patter. ETA @coilstrand I appreciate your comment about process videos. They take a lot of time and skill to produce, but I rarely watch them. It's unfortunate so many scrappers have chosen to make videos when a simple still shot would be enough.

I really miss the paper magazines. Even the advertisements gave me inspiration. Now, I get most of my new-product info by word of mouth among my very few crafty friends. It's okay, but I also loved the "Did you see...?" after the magazines came out each month.

Are you feeling like you need "new" to be inspired? I think that's part of my cycle of scrapbooking. That having the newest supplies will make me feel like creating. Now I have a big supply of new. I receive a monthly kit and haven't really had a lot of time to scrapbook like I used to so my kits are piling up. When I need inspiration, I turn to my kit club gallery first to see what they did with the supplies and then I might go check out the manufacturer's blog of a certain paper that catches my eye. I am a big Pinterest user...I may use the search bar to look for something and then click on something I like and then related pins, and then peruse someone else's boards..it's like falling down a rabbit hole of inspiration. I've been scrapping for almost 17 years...long enough to see that what was old is new again....like fashion. I feel like, consistently, Studio Calico seems to attract scrappers doing artsy and different looking layouts. Their products also seem to be a little out of the box at first until it becomes the latest fashion. Is there something new under the sun, maybe not. But I feel like if I challenge myself to copy a style that maybe isn't my comfort zone, I grow my skill set and remain engaged. I have avoided the Copic bandwagon until recently. Now, I've made an investment and maybe I don't have the right colors to do what I see being done on some videos and blogs but I'm going to devote some more time to trying to learn some techniques and see if I can grow in that area. Sometimes, I just want to create something but don't know where to start and that's when challenges are great. They give me direction and then usually I get back into my natural swing of things. Watching youtube videos are also a fun way to find inspiration but if you aren't inspired but watching other's create then skip that. I miss the old TwoPeas gallery that's for sure. I really feel like no site that I have found has filled that void. Have you ever just looked through your paper and sighed a happy sigh for all the prettiness there? It's one of my favorite things to do when I haven't looked through my stuff in a while. And I always find some product that I haven't used that I really love and decide it's time to finally make something with it. Lastly...and apparently I had a lot of feelings about this topic because this is a long post for me, there are sometimes when I don't want to create. Maybe I want to play mindless computer games or read a book or binge watch tv. It's okay to take a break...even for bloggers

So, I was reading what journeyfan said about a lot of pins come from blogs. I checked my scrapping boards and found this to be true. What I did not realize is most of these are from card makers blogs. So, I think I might start checking these types of blogs out.

This is me, except when you keep acquiring new stuff and then not get around to creating, it sure does pile up! And....at some point isn't new anymore! I looked closely at SC's website yesterday since they had the 20%/30% off sale. So I wasted time comparing available kits that I like to what I had ordered in the past (yes, I have enough I couldn't remember what I have)....and discovered I had nearly all of them already! I have to quit organizing my stuff so much and putting it away right away, but the last few months have just been bad with not pulling anything out again... My goal is going to be to focus on getting some of what I have used with sketches (my plan is to use the SC sketchbook classes and my CTMH sketch idea books) and get using what I have and not be searching for new goodies right now, especially since I haven't been overly inspired by what's out there.

I have an old, old one for cardmaking - I challenged myself to make one card from each sketch (no skipping pages! LOL) It has been awesome for those times when I'm uninspired. There are many sketches using shaped card bases (which I find to be a real PITA) and other techniques that I would never ordinarily use. My "rule" for myself is that I either have to adapt it to something I'm willing to do, or bite the bullet and try it. I have been so pleased with the results of both choices. I wish more sketch books would come out - not that I've finished this one yet... /hijack

One of the ways I challenge myself is to look for color combinations I like - either on Pinterest, in magazines, advertisements, wherever. I'm not looking for layouts, just color combinations I like. Then I try to create a layout with those colors. That won't help you in finding specific products in your preferred colors, but maybe it would inspire you to adapt what you have with a new color. Apparently I use a lot of navy, as it seems like I always need more navy cardstock!

I used to love Chatterbox's rooms for these types of combos. While I do still find new scrapbooking papers to buy, I do agree that many of the current new lines are very similar to ones we've seen before. I certainly understand that color trends come & go, but it would be nice to also have the options of more lines that showcase colors outside of the current trends, too.
