I have a dear friend who was just dx with this and they have given her 6-12 months to live. This is very heartbreaking for all her friends and family and I just don't know what to expect. I have read a TON online but thought maybe someone would have first hand experience.

That's so scary. My mom died from ALS but had dementia along with it, and there was some question she had CJD. It was possible, but not likely as her decline took about 18 months. We could have found out, but how they do it was something I couldn't cope with at the time.
I'm so sorry for your friend. I hope it's as painless as it can possibly be.

I don't have any first hand experience, but I just wanted to say how sorry I am about your friend. That is so heartbreaking.

One of my mother's friends passed away from CJD. It was very sad because her time after diagnosis was about what you already mentioned. I'm sorry.

I lost a close family friend to CJD last year. Bryon was 45. He was diagnosed two weeks after initial symptoms, and passed six weeks after diagnosis. My heart goes out to your friend's family as well as yourself. An extremely hard disease to watch. My friend had to be watched day and night because of the confusion. He declined rapidly and passed within the week when hospice was needed. There is an excellent message board for those dealing with CJD.

Thanks Guys! This has been so surreal. She had multiple sinus infections and then started having dizzy spells. After that she has just gone down hill so fast. As of now she can't walk, talk or eat on her own. She is only 37 and has 2 sweet boys who are 14 and 12. Her poor husband is just lost. He is still convinced there will be a miracle and as much as I want that too, I just don't see that happening. It helps to let it all out somewhere and have others who know what it's like.

I have an aunt who passed away of this disease a few years ago. I know very little about the disease. Sending prayers to your family.
