shirt tail or sleeve. Tell me I'm not the only person who does this numerous times each day, instead of legitimately using a glass cleaning cloth.
I *HAVE* the cloth. I just don't USE the cloth.

I use my cloth, unless I don't have it with me. I have those Crizal lenses, and the instructions said I don't even need glass cleaner for them. I really do try to use the cloth that came with the glasses. I feel like using my shirt only leaves smudge marks.

half-assed eyeglass cleaning is one of the reasons I don't wear my glasses any more than I absolutely have to-- contact lenses don't get smudgy! I never take that cleaning cloth with me anywhere. (somehow I manage to see around the smudges if I'm reading before bed, however... when the cleaning cloth is right next door in the bathroom cabinet, lol!)

dh hates it when I do this. he only uses the cloth. I use shirt, pants, napkins, blankets, whatever is nearby. if THE cloth is nearby, i'll use that first but most of the time, it is not.

I have to use the cloth due to some kind of coating on my lenses, but I hate doing it. Using the cloth makes me feel like an old man with a big handkerchief!

I use the cloth and cleaner at my desk at work. At home, I use an old pair of soft cotton undies and my vinegar Windex.

I have the Crizal lenses and was told just to use the cloth too. I have extras for my car and purse so you'd think they'd be handier than a shirt, but I always forget I have them.
I'll use them until the newness of my glasses wear off then start wiping with things I know I shouldn't use.

I keep the foil packets of computer screen wipes in my desk at home and at work. I use those on my glasses then get a swipe or two on the computer screen.

I'm with you, SharlaG. Cannot be bothered with the cloth. Shirt tail works ... not well, but as good as it's gonna get.

Ok. So I carry a huge microfiber cleaning cloth (and several other smaller ones) in my purse. Along with eyeglass wipes and/or solution. I keep them everywhere, honestly. I give them out as gifts. I'm a little intense about it. As a matter of fact, it is my little cleaning ritual during my train ride every morning. I hate smudges on my glasses.

I used to use my shirt ALL the time. Then I got these stupid Cristal lenses and you CANNOT wipe them with a shirt or anything OTHER than a damned cloth because all it does it smear whatever is on the lens ALL over it. I mean, the more you wipe it with a shirt, the worse it gets. I HATE these lenses with a passion...and if I didn't need contacts right now, I'd replace the glasses. But alas I need contacts first.

I need to have an exam and see if they can help me. I hate having glasses sitting on my face!

I totally destroyed a pair of prescription glasses because I cleaned them with a towel that had synthetic fibers in it. The lenses were so scratched when I got done I had to get new glasses. THAT was a very expensive lesson.
Since then I've only used a clean cloth diaper and the spray cleaner they gave me at the eye glass shop.

Nope, I only wash with soap and water, not even with the cloth unless I've just washed. Luckily I only have to wear them for about 8 hours/day. I don't think I would wear them if they got the tiniest bit scratched, my eyes are super sensitive to that, so I do everything I can to avoid scratches. I keep them in the case when they aren't on.

Raising hand....I do it all the time.
DH is fanatical about only using the cloth, but on weekends he never carries his with him so he is always digging in my purse to find mine.

Another one in the half-assed camp. I've never even heard of those fancy-schmancy lenses. If I happen to be in the kitchen near one of my microfiber cloths wearing glasses I might use it and feel really happy about how clean it got my lenses, but there's no way I'm schlepping one around with me when I've a perfectly good shirt.

Not any more. I wrecked my last pair of glasses within 6 months because of using my sleeve, napkins or anything but the cleaning cloths. They seemed to just smudge so I rubbed harder and harder. They got so scratched they were actually cloudy Lesson learned. The optician said to get them really wet then use the cleaning cloth only, rubbing them while dry is what creates lots of teeny tiny scratches.
