I used to LOVE their jeans. Young stylish looking, but with a bit of stretch, and great fit, but now? WTH? did they do? first off their are NO pockets in the front. none. I gotta have pockets! and who makes jeans without front pockets?
So has anyone found something else similar to their old jeans?

I never tried their jeans, but I did just get a pair of Not Your Daughters Jeans that my ass look like it did 20 years ago. I want to marry them I love them so much. They looked so good that I almost cried in the dressing room. I've lost weight, so this is the first pair of decent jeans I have bought in a while, and I ended up with a size I haven't worn since before my kids were born. I don't care if it is vanity sizing-they look GOOD. (they were the best thing that has ever happened to myself esteem and I want to wear them every. single. day. with a big old sign that says YEAH. LOOK AT THAT ASS. )

I used to love their jeans, but haven't bought a pair from them in years. I do like NYDJ. I bought another brand from Target yesterday. The brand was called Denizen by Levi. They didn't get all loose as the day went on.

I had some NY and Co jeans a while ago, at least ten years ago, that didn't have pockets in the back and had vanity pockets in the front. I think they were flattering and emphasized the right curves. My hips changed after I had kids and they were much too low cut. Now I mostly wear 7 for all mankind jeans or Citizens for humanity jeans if I can find them for a decent price. (I wear my jeans out so don't mind paying more for jeans that I will wear for years).

New York and Co. - company that makes less expensive versions of Jones of New York style clothes.
NYDJ - Not Your Daughters Jeans - jeans made with a touch of spandex and for women with post-kids bodies. In other words, NOT straight hiphuggers with a <5" rise. But have tended to also be fairly stylish and not look like "mom jeans."
Are you perhaps confusing a pair of New York and Co jeans that you recently looked at with NYDJ that you know from earlier?

Ah..NO Elaine. In fact I would say that New York and CO jeans are much better fit and more stylish then the NYDJs. I have one pair of those, and I think they look more like "mom" jeans now after I got the NY ones.

My most favorite jeans ever are my old Wrangler's, but they're plain and roomy (for riding) and not very stylish. For dressy jeans I like NYDJ, but they are kind of thin (and stretchy - ick!). I also like Ralph Lauren Jean Co jeans.
Recently I went jean shopping at the mall. I went to every store and asked for jeans that weren't skinny, ripped, frayed, faded, dirty, stretchy, splashed with bleach, didn't have bling on the pockets and were either straight leg or bootcut. I told them all I was willing to drop some cash on my perfect pair of jeans. Oh, and I mentioned that although I'm petite, but don't want them too short. LOL! All clerks looked at me like I had two heads. All except for the clerk at Lucky Brand. She actually tried to help (and I complimented her to her manager). However she didn't have anything for me and suggested I try Levis. I'm a Wrangler girl through and through so I can't go to Levis. Or can I....

Isn't Jones of NY a Macy's brand? New York and co. is it's own store.

Levi's just don't fit me right. I'm too long legged, or something.

Isn't Jones of NY a Macy's brand? New York and co. is it's own store. Nope, it is a higher end of sportswear available at multiple higher end department stores and has its own stores too. Style and Co. Is Macy's brand. I have bought quite a few New York and Co pieces at JC Penny's in addition to their stores. Sorry you don't like NYDJ - I'm a bit of a jean snob (love Citizens for Humanity and Paige Jeans) and and like them.

I resisted anything that even hints at mom jeans. The NYDJ are not mom jeans-I even asked all the young people in my life before I took the tags off and the kids I asked? They would definitely tell me, they don't care about my feelings.

No, I am absolutely sure you can ONLY buy NY and co jeans at their store. I think at JCPs you are thinking of St bay, or some other brand.
I do buy longs, and Levis just don't fit me right.

When I first started as a college professor in the early 90s, I had limited income and needed to buy professional pieces. I definitely bought New York and Co pieces - several wool skirts and some professional tops, and one black and gray plaid suit - at JC Penny in Eugene OR. I coveted Jones of New York and Evan Picone, but couldn't afford them at the time other than pieces my mother bought for me in grad school. Clothes are very important to me, so I am very certain. I went on a strict diet after having my kids because I loved my professional work clothes so much that I didn't want to buy new ones. I didn't shop for jeans, so don't know if New York and Co only sell those in their stores. I still have a couple of the skirts from then - not St Johns Bay but New York and Co. I don't know if they even had St Johns Bay back then. Eta: New York and Co didn't launch its own stores until the 2000s after it was bought from The Limited brands group.

These perfect jeans apparently don't exist. I have the added complication of being tall and needing long inseams. Most stores cater to petite sizes in my area. I've had so many sales people try to tell me that a 32 inch inseam is Tall. Maybe, but it's still 3 inches too short! Looking forward to suggestions.

They have the ripped fashion jeans, but also have a great selection of plain straight and bootcut jeans. Several styles are "mid rise" so your butt doesn't hang out. The problem is finding them in stores to try on - Bloomingdales and Nordstrom are the only stores around here that I know of that carry them. But, once you figure your size, you can order online. They come long enough in a long, that I have hemmed my two pairs. The other problem is price - $170 ish per pair. I have found that in order to get classic denim - not fashionably dyed and ripped - it sometimes takes going to a department store that has a "premium denim" department. It is separate from the juniors section.
