My youngest son is 15 and in 8th grade. He's in Junior Cadet Corps. (Similar to JROTC but at the middle school level.) This Saturday he's going to his military ball. He's invited a 7th grade girl to accompany him. She's buying a new dress for this event. I'm not sure if it's street length or long, but it's tan in color. Her favorite flower is the rose.
I was thinking that it would be nice for him to get her a corsage for the ball. With a tan dress, what color rose do you think? I'm thinking a wrist corsage would be better than a pin on type. Opinions?

My husband got me a wrist corsage for one of our balls. I'd get a red rose.

I was thinking of red, also. I think it would show up better against her dress.
Should we do real flowers or silk?

My sons aren't in ROTC but I have an 8th grade boy. Real flowers, and wrist corsage are choices made in his crowd. Red roses are classic with tan and your son's uniform. But deep pink is always nice too on girls this age.
Hopefully a mom with daughter will weigh in!

I hope he has a good time! I was looking at 8th grade graduation ("recognition") photos last night. I was alternately tearing up and laughing. They've grown up so much- yet still stay the same monkeys!

A couple weeks ago I asked my florist about wrist vs pin corsages. She told me that no one ordered pin corsages for prom, only wrist corsages.
Pins are nice for a suit dress for a wedding, but wrist is more appropriate for most prom dresses.

Wrist. And I would go with carnations or baby roses. I tend to think that rises are for proms
Or be trendy and get a nosegay instead.
