Why?!?! Why do people lie. Or I should ask why I even ask the question when I sort of know the answer but it just confirms that you're a mother freaking lying liar!!!!

You would have to ask a lying liar who lies, but they would probably lie!

Especially when she's lying about something stupid - but it makes me wonder what important stuff she is lying about. She's just a 75 year old freaking lying attention whore.

I think some people lie so much they begin to not even know when they're lying. Ugh. Yes, I know a few people like this. They lie so much, if they said the sky was blue I'd run outside to see for myself.

I often wondered what led my former sister in law to constantly lie. Then she told me her parents caught her in a lie and from then on her goal in life became to lie and get away with it.

This hits very close to home today - dh and I are having a very hard time dealing with a lying family member right now. We can't cut them out of our lives unfortunately and dh is so stressed.

I know when my ex is lying : his lips are moving. He lies about the most ridiculous unimportant things, he doesn't remember his own lies and it drives me to distraction. I am only so glad that I don't have to listen to these lies on a daily basis anymore, however I am concerned that our son is starting exactly the same behaviour

Yeah and I think...is she dumb enough to think I'm dumb enough to believe the stuff she says?

I'm very fortunate that I don't have any "lying liars who lie" in my life, it would surely do my head in.
I have discovered that a lot of 10yo boys (mates of my son) lie about all sorts of crap. Luckily DS has a fairly effective crap-o-meter and doesn't believe most of it. Most of them do it to either make friends or impress their mates. I wonder if the adults who lie started out that way too?

Here's a semi-entertaining story about the very first habitual liar I ever met...
The year I went to kindergarten there was a girl named Lisa in my class. One day at recess we were jumping rope together when Lisa casually mentioned that she had qualified to compete in the jump rope event at the most recent Olympics Games.
Even at age 5 I knew a whopper when I heard one, but when I started to protest, Lisa cut me off by saying that she'd had to withdraw from the competition because the Olympic-regulation length jump ropes were just too darn long for her to be able to use them effectively.
It's both amusing and entertaining to look back on it now, but at the time I was absolutely furious at her because she was so obviously lying right to my face. Lisa = lying liar who lies.

I came very close to starting a friendship with someone until she started lying to me. She's still besties with a very good friend of mine, but I cooled it on my side. If I can't trust you, I'm not going to be friends with you. Period.
I also have an IL who can't be trusted. DH and I joke about it between ourselves but it can be really frustrating.

I have a SIL who lies, but is too stupid to tell the same lies to her other brother's wife that she tells to me. Does she really think we don't talk?

I know someone like this IRL. I now look at it from a different point of view. I like to sit back and observe. It's really quite fascinating. If anything, it's a cheap form of entertainment. So many thoughts go through my head.
