Arrgh! I dropped my iPhone and cracked the screen. If I make an appointment at the Apple Store Genius Bar, will they replace the screen then or does it need to be sent away? I'm so mad at myself.

No idea, but we have kiosks at the mall that replace them cheaper than Apple. Voids the warranty of course, but they do a good job and it takes maybe 15 minutes.

I don't think so.
We were there the other day. The ear phone jack was broken on my son's ipad mini. They told us that it was impossible to fix and we'd have to buy a new one. It's three years old. We went to the kiosk guy at the mall and he charged $40 to fix it. It's not under warranty at this point so we chose the cheaper method.

Thanks! I made an appointment at the Genius Bar, so we'll see how that goes. I'm still so mad at myself for dropping my phone.

We had a mini that was just out of warranty by like a month. Kept crashing, they said software or something and I had to buy another (discounted.) I often wonder if I had done the kiosk on that if they could have dealt with it? The kiosk has been a godsend for screen replacements, between my house and my parents we've replaced a few, lol.

My son's 5c's port thing broke. When he would plug in the charger, it wouldn't stay seated correctly and wouldn't charge.
Wonder if the kiosk people could fix that? At this point, he already has a new phone, but I could use it...

Yes, if you have a cracked screen, they don't fix the screen, they give you a new phone altogether.
I have dropped many iPhones. After the last time, the Sprint store guy recommended a tempered glass cover - I have dropped the phone several times since and it protects the screen (and the glass cover has yet to break).
Good luck!

I just had my screen replaced at the Apple Store 2 weeks ago. They will do it while you wait and they will fix your current phone, not give you a new one. It was $109 to fix my iPhone 6.
Make sure your phone is backed up before you go in and beware that if you go in on the weekend it usually takes a lot longer!
My daughter broke she screen on her new 6 this last week, so I guess we'll be headed back in...:/

Apparently I'm quite attached to my iPhone and don't want to not have it, even for a few days.

I had my screen fixed at an Apple Store in the mall a few weeks ago. I made an appointment and it took about 2.5 hours. I wandered around the mall to kill time while they fixed it.

When mine cracked, they fixed it at the store. I made an appointment and it was supposed to take an hour, but took closer to two. They did NOT replace the entire phone or ship it out. If I'd come in without an appointment, it was about a 5-6 hour wait (from what I heard them tell someone that brought in the phone they had *just* dropped in the mall). It was close to $120 with tax. I could have gone to a kiosk, but it's my 6th iphone and I've never cracked a screen before and never paid for apple care, so I didn't mind paying full price to keep it under warranty. If I were always cracking them, I don't think I'd regularly pay that.
I have a tempered glass cover which did NOT crack when my phone screen cracked. And I hadn't actually dropped my phone which was weird, I have no clue why the screen cracked.
But the tempered glass cover has a replacement plan... they ship you a new one (for a small shipping fee) and you send back the old one and get a credit so you can always get a new one shipped to you. I use the Bodyguardz brand and use their advantage program to ship them back.

My friend made an apt for her sons phone to fix his broken screen. When they got there they were told the machine they use wasn't working and they gave him a whole new phone. ?

Thanks for the info. I do have a tempered glass cover on it, and it still cracked. Rats! I was going to recommend the tempered glass film as well. Since the drop still broke the screen, you might want to consider putting the phone in an Otterbox or one of these cases. Some are very affordable, less than a new screen will be if you are out of warranty. I do believe that a more protective cover is in my phone's future.
