How do you line up your mat to load? I have a Portrait, but I assume they all load the same way. How do you line up the mat? I know there are gray lines on the machine but it seems no matter what line I line up where (line on the machine with edge of the mat / line on the mat) I'm always cutting something off somewhere. Is it all trial and error until you figure it out, or is there a magic spot that works?
I have never moved my rollers, so they are in the factory position.
I've Googled and YouTubed and everything I pull up glosses over this question.
Thanks!

Make sure you are hitting "load mat" not "load media" That will cause it to cut wrong.
The only other thing is to make sure you are designing on the correct size mat in the program. And make sure you are designing in the cutable area.

I am doing both of those. I just don't know where to line the mat to load it. There are a bunch of ridges on the Silhouette, do I line it up with one of those? Which one? And what part of the mat do I line up ~ the edge, the edge of the ruler, the mark where it says 8.5 x 11, or A4?

On my Cameo one of those grey lines (on the left) has arrows beside it. I line up the EDGE of my mat with the line with grey arrows.

Haven't used it in forever so I'm not sure actually!

The cameo and portrait both have the arrows pointing to the line that you match to the left side edge of the mat.

I just looked, the only arrow I see is with the hole to change the blade depth. A bunch of raised lines, but no other arrow.

I line up the mat by butting the top up against the wheels, and along the left edge, similar to lining up paper on the paper trimmer.

Thank you for asking this. I have struggled with mine for a couple of years trying to get the placement right. I was using the bars on the right side of the platform. Using the link, I just played with cutting the same thing and setting the lines at different spots. To get the mat cuts on the actual mat the same as the software mat, I had to make sure the A4 marking line was set in the left side raised line. So glad now that I got this figured out. Should be go to go from here on out. To be sure that it is right the next time, I made sure to use a sharpie to get the line on the mat and the machine marked. I hope I remember to make sure the lines are matched up.
