Thank you to all of the helpful ladies who tested out SVGs for me on a variety of softwares and platforms! I believe I've found a file type that should work with the different electronic cutter softwares.. it's been tested on several versions of SCAL, Cricuit Design Space, and Silhouette Studio DE.
I've sent out an email to my list with a link to the free iNSD files with the updated SVGs.
If anyone who has either purchased or received a SVG from me who needs an updated version please contact me any time!
Hi all,
I'm having some trouble with some of my own SVG files not working/opening in some cutter softwares -- the most recent problem was with Cricuit Design Space.
Can anyone out there figure out how I can troubleshoot this problem? I've made/sold/given out PNG and SVG files for well over a year now, and I think they usually work -- in all that time I've had two complaints that the user couldn't open, view, or use my files in the design software they use. I only have a Silhouette Cameo and the accompanying Studio software, so it's hard for me to see what other users are experiencing on their end.
I'm currently designing files in Studio, saving as PNGs using a document writer, and then opening/converting the PNG with Inkscape and saving as a SVG.
If anyone can help me through this, or has other steps/tutorials I can try, I would really appreciate it!
Also, if anyone out there uses SVG or other non-proprietary file types with an electronic cutter and wants to help me test my files, I'd love it if you would!

If anyone would like to help test out some different versions of SVGs, please reply with what software you use, and your email address. I'll send you some files and you can let me know if you can open them in your programme and if they seem useable. Thank you!!!

I'm no help because I use my cameo and thus the same software as you. I' m assuming your looking for someone who cuts with SCAL, MTC, or even the new Cricut Explore, right?

And does the new Cricut Explore use the Cricut Design Space? I'm pretty sure that the Explore does use Design space from what I've seen online....but still can't help as I don't have one! Anyone? |

I have a cameo and the Cricut Explore - uses design space. I am on a MAC if that helps as well.

I have SCAL (ver 2.044) and use the first version of Cricut Expressions.
I also have a Silhouette Portrait that I've NEVER used. (Sad, right?) And I do have the SCAL (ver 3.071) to go with it. I could set it up and play around with it Thursday night if you can wait that long.

I have the Expression and SCAL. I tried to open your INSD free files, but it didn't work for me. I thought it was probably just me and my computer-challenged issues.

Edited to add: I just tried the trace feature and I got that to work beautifully. But I understand that for products to sell that isn't what you are looking for.

I hated to say something because it seemed everyone else was having success, and my computer skills are seriously lacking.
