I know some of you will rejoice with me! Our family has been at this school since my oldest was in JK - so 16 years this year. I believe Ontario runs school council differently than many US areas - no fees are required, anybody can attend. But we do have an Executive that runs the meetings. I've been attending meetings for at least 10 years. I was Secretary for a good 4 years, and served as Fundraising Chair for a year or two. DS is about to graduate from Grade 8 in June. Last night was our last meeting of the year - and my last meeting EVER!! I don't plan to get involved at the high school level (I didn't for my other two either), so NO MORE COUNCIL!!

I'm sure they appreciate the time you put in. It's so hard to get good volunteers (with longevity). On behalf of all exec PTA/PTO members everywhere, I thank you.

I'm finishing 9 years with the elementary school next month (I only have 2 kids and the youngest is "graduating."). I served as treasurer for the last 6 years. But apparently I am a glutton for punishment, because I've been on the parent council at the high school for 2 years. But at least I will only have one meeting to attend, I think that's liberating!!!

Such a liberating feeling. I served as treasurer at my kids elementary and middle schools for four years. It was so nice when she graduated. I said no to all volunteer assignments for about six months. But recently got involved again for her show choir. I had promised myself a year break, but it's easy to get pulled back in. :-)
