So I got four bottles of spray mist from Peachy Cheap, which is outside the box for me. (Not a real messy scrapper). So, show me what you can do and have done with them!

Oh, fun!!! I think you're going to like doing a little splattering around your embellishment clusters.

Thank you, Ashley! Do you do the ink splatters with the sprays as well?

There is a lot fo great misting examples and tutorials out there... I have to run some errands and clean a bit and then I will try to link you up!
Also - Shimelle usually shows how to get the dropped/splatter effect in her videos.

Most of them, yes, but I do sometimes use watercolour for splatters. To splatter with spray mists, you can unscrew the spray top and let the ink drip off of the little tube -- this will create very small, concentrated drops on the page. I usually prefer to pour a bit of spray mist into a small plastic container (I save the plastic packaging from scrapbook embellishments to use for this!) and use a wet paint brush to pick up the spray mist. Then I hold the paint brush over my project and squeeze with my fingers so a big drop of ink falls off the brush onto the page -- this technique creates larger drops with a small splatter, and are usually lighter if you've used some water on your brush to dilute the spray mist a bit. hth!

tduby1 - I came so close to ordering them! I have some OA mists, but don't use them very much. I really liked the colors in the Peachy Cheap offer. ashley - thanks for sharing! I love your pages.

I can never get the perfect big splatter and the dropper normally puts out too much and the other way is too small like you said. Cant wait to try this!

I probably have over 60 bottles of mists and sprays. I am boring though. I just use them to spray canvas, chipboard and fabric/paper flowers. I never do the splatter stuff.

I tried splattering the background on a layout and ended up with a big blobby mess. I had to cover it up with paper. My technique needs a lot more practice! Watching for more advice here. Thanks for sharing, ashley.

Thanks for sharing, ashley. I've made more than a few blobby messes. Makes for creative fixing, that's for sure!

Mists can take some practice, and I suggest playing with them on some scrap paper. Also know that depending on the mists, and on the paper the effects can vary. I have learned this the hard way! Some papers and inks wick a lot more than others, so if you have scrap test it until you get the hang of it! I love misting, and ink splatters and I do them on almost every layout. Sometimes the effects are subtle and sometimes more bold. they are fabulous for that empty space you don't know what to do with on a layout and giving that little extra pop to clusters. A couple of tricks for using mists: 1) take the cap off and flick the spray tube for small splatters 2) spray mist INTO the cap and then pour onto layout for BIG drops. 3) Alternatively, pour a bit of mist into a container and use a paint brush for applying. YOu can also use the brush for painting borders around pages or painting bits and pieces just like using watercolours. 4) Obviously, you can mist using the spray applicator this is good for all over coverage or using masks or stencils. 5) Another fun one, for a more watercolour effect spray a bit of mist onto some plastic packaging (the thin plastic thickers come in works well) and press onto paper, This creates soft watercolour areas, dab and blot with the pastic, reapplying until satisfied. You can layer colours too and it looks beautiful. (I will show an example of this technique...) some people like to use gesso first when doingthis technique which helps if it will be getting very wet. 6) Mists are unpredictable, and there have been "accidents" on my pages that I have had to fix or cover or just live with. I think that is part of the fun of them, but just be aware you don't always get the result you were after. Embrace the unpreictablity and PLAY! Watch out, mists can be addictive! (I am embarrassed to say how many I have). My very favourite mists of all time are: 1) Heidi Swapp Gold (Lame)...liquid gold, so pretty! 2) Mister Huey's Opaque White/ Lindy's Stamp Gang Frozen Jackfrost...both white, super white. The Lindy's is a bit better but hard to find at the moment. 3) Mister Huey's Hey Diddle Diddle ...soft grey 4) Lindy's Stamp Gang Tres Chic set...the colours in this are opaque and more paint like than ink like...Very creamy and pretty. More like October Afternoon's old mists. 5) Mister Huey's Dewey This is no longer available but it was the perfect minty aqua. I believe MH Seafoam is pretty similar. Here, is an example of the technique I talked about in #5 using the plastic packaging to create a watercolour effect: Watercolour effect with mistsAnother one with a watercolour technique this one has glitter and gesso applied first: Misted layout

Thanks for the tips, impearia. I intend to pull a few out and have a play day before I attempt another page. I have a few Heidi Swapp and Prima mists, and some Prima stencils.

impearia,
Thanks for those great tips! I love your pages, especially the Day Trip to Paradise. Did you use a stamp to make the 4x4(?)frames?
