Today was catch-up after such a busy week last week and the long holiday weekend. So I'm bustling around the house this afternoon stripping beds, doing laundry, cleaning up, and so forth. And I do love to multi-task. And I do hate to make more than one trip when I can overload myself and make just one. So I have just a few more dark items to dump in the washer load already going. But I throw a goblet that needs to go back to the kitchen in the top of the basket and head to the other end of the house. I get to the laundry room, open the already running washer and tip the basket over to shake out the few clothing items. And then I hear the sound of glass shattering. The goblet hit the rim of the washer and shattered... all into the clothes and soapy water there below. It took a while to clean that up. Thus negating all that precious time I'd saved by throwing the goblet into the basket in the first place. Eh. Live and learn.

Oh gosh that's terrible and sounds like something I could easily see myself doing. It's sad you had to waste so much time cleaning up such a mess! I hope there are no remnants of glass anywhere to bother you later!

My laundry room is on the first floor between the kitchen and the garage....so I'm constantly throwing stuff in a laundry basket that needs to go in the dishwasher or get taken out for recycling etc. I could have easily done what you did today!

Welcome to my world! That is the kind of stuff that happens to me (hmm...that I make happen) every day! I cause myself so much frustration by not thinking or forgetting. Hang in there.

Oh, that sounds like a pretty bad mess to clean it. Was it the kind of glass that shatters into thousands of teeny little shards? My not-thinking moment today is that for some reason I've been beyond exhausted all day today... my 18 month old daughter was an absolute beast all morning. So during afternoon nap time I decided to lay down on the couch and rest. She was awake for a while (pretty common) and I was drifting in and out of sleep. I decided to let her play in her crib for a while because she really was tired and she usually goes to sleep. Well, when she woke up one of my older daughters when to get her and came back to report that the 18 month old had a poopy diaper blow out, and had taken off her pants and her diaper was only partially attached on one side. Eww. Definitely not worth it.

I've done that-- carried stuff besides laundry in the same basket with laundry. I'll have to be careful that I don't make your mistake!

Don't you HATE that! I feel your pain. BTDT (not with the glass but negating the time savings with something SO stupid...)

Things happen all the time in my life that causes me more work. If I thought more these things probably would NOT happen, at least not as frequently.

Thankfully, it was everyday glass so it was a thicker goblet and broke mostly in chunks. Just a few smaller pieces. It was just a pain to lift out each sopping wet item and shake it over the sink to be sure. The I had to fish elbow deep in the soapy water for thr rest. Yay. I only cut myself once though so it wasn't too bad. Lol. Oh, yes. A few choice words were uttered.

You get so angry at yourself when you do stupid things like that, don't you? The one I remember best was one Christmas Day when I got a lovely new nightshirt. I was too lazy to go and get scissors to cut off the tag, so I decided to bite it off instead. I broke my front tooth in half, and it cost me a fortune to get it repaired.

I had a major what was I thinking moment today and I'm paying for it now. I was on the phone with my mom and youngest dd (4) kept asking for me to pull down the pull up bar that hangs in a doorway. The bar unhooks and lowers. The bar was stuck and in my brilliant mind I decided to haul off and hit the bar to make it come loose. BIG MISTAKE! Said bar came loose immediately and flew down and slammed into my chest. I'm still on the phone....and of course I don't want to drop my phone. It all happened so fast I didn't have a chance to react. As soon as it hit me I hit the floor. I knocked the wind out of myself..not sure if it was from the bar hitting me or my body hitting the floor. All of my dd's and and an extra saw this. I'm groaning on the floor in a pitiful laughing, crying, trying to catch my breath way. My mom is on the phone freaking out yelling "are you ok...hello". Oldest dd picked up the phone and filled her in until I could talk again. It's been almost 10 hours and I'm so sore!!! Still giggling about it but man do I hurt. Unfortunately the bar hit me right below the boobs...I told dh and dd's that I wish it would have hit me in the boobs bc it would have at least cushioned the blow a bit.
