I'm about to taper off of them and man it sucks. I'm at 50mcg (from 75mcg) every 48 hours. Moving down to 25 mcg next week. Then to 12.5. I will have fentyanyl lollipop to use as needed after I stop the 12.5 patch. I wish I had never started them. I will still be on 6 10 mg percocet and will start back on Oxycontin 80mg twice a day.
I'm just so ready to be off this patch. Any advice? Good thoughts? Make me feel like I can do this? Lol. Withdrawls suck big time.

I'm so sorry.
Yes, I've tapered off the Fentanyl. You might need more of the pops for breakthrough pain. The patches don't last as long as the box says--my dh had a lot of problems with withdrawal symptoms the last day when he was using the patches every 3 days, so the doctor had him switch the patches sooner, which really helped. He's not taking them anymore and now takes Opana ER.
Since I HATE having to take the pain meds, yet I'm always in a lot of pain, I wind up waiting too long to take my meds to begin with. That's a problem with keeping your pain under control.
I was on the patches when I had acute pancreatitis and a tube down my liver and bile duct tree. The pills worked better for me, but I wasn't with a pain specialist then.
Now I am, and I take Opana ER which is made for chronic pain, and I take short acting Oxy. I don't take anything with tylenol--it's not good for you, and my liver is already damaged because of the bile duct tree issues, so tylenol is not something I can take. It doesn't do anything for me anyway as far as pain control.
I hope you have better pain control. Chronic pain sucks.

Yes she is going to keep giving me the pops. She doesn't prescribe Opana. I would have to switch to a Pm doctor and I don't want that. I've been to them before and I just like my Dr. im going back on the Ear Oxycontin and just percocet for breakthrough. I've been to several specialist and I'm not a canidate for surgery so I will most likely be on meds the rest of my life. The last specialist said I probably will be in a wheelchair and unable to walk much in the next 5 years or so. I will be able to walk around the house, to the car, but even now I can't walk around the mall etc without resting or taking an extra pain pill. She trust me to take them responsibly and since I'm I'm so much pain they don't really make me "high" anymore.
And a long car ride? Forget it. If I have to travel more than 3 hours I fly or rent a van that I can stretch out in the seat.
