I miss having actual scrapbooking stores near me. I used to go into this one shop that had a whole room full of dies and machines and punches that you could use free with any purchase that visit.
I would go with a few photos in hand, pick out a sheet of pp for the background, then pick out a couple sheets of cardstock and use the dies & punches room to my heart's content.
Then I'd go assemble it all at home.
This was before I had any diecutters of my own. It was such a treat to be able to use and have shapes that I cut or punched without actually having to lay out the money of owning a tool that I may not use often.
I always made sure to buy ink, or a stamp, or something else too during each visit. I loved that place.
I also miss Chatterbox papers. They made it all so easy. And they were classy.
What do you miss?

Oh how I miss scrap magazines.
When we put our house on the market to move from PA to TX, I did a lot of purging. Having absolutely NO idea that scrap magazines were going to go away, I purged the vast, vast majority of mine. I SO regret that now!!!
Having an online magazine is just not the same to me. You can't just stick it in your suitcase for traveling because you can't always have a connection. When the Flight Attendant says to turn off your electronics, you can still study your magazine for the umpteenth time. You can't just touch it and scrutinize it like you can a paper version.
I miss my magazines.

Another gal here missing her monthly magazines!! And LSS choices. I have one, but it's about as small as you can get in terms of selection and still call itself a store.

I also miss the LSS. We used to always find an LSS in the area we were traveling to so we could drop in. There were soooooo many new ideas to see hanging on the walls of an LSS.
I also miss Archivers!! I can honestly say that I never lived in a town with an Archivers, but I loved planning a Saturday to make a two hour drive to visit an Archivers and have dinner out in a different city. My DS and DIL lived in a city with an Archivers and we would definitely plan a trip to Archivers when we would visit them.
I can honestly say that even though I receive the e-mails from Archivers, I have NEVER once made a purchase from them since they went online only!! It is just not the same as being in the store and I kinda resent that they shut down all their stores and made it sound like they were going out of business when their whole intent was to make more profit by going online only. I don't begrudge anyone making a profit, but when I asked specifically if they were going online only, they said "no, we are going out of business" and I ask "then why are you asking for my e-mail address" and their reply was "to keep us informed should they reopen any stores".

I miss getting scrapbook magazines. Yes, this! I love online content but there is nothing like a scrapping magazine! A hundred times this...there was nothing quite like anticipating the arrival of Creating Keepsakes or Simple Scrapbooks after hearing the buzz through the message boards. I miss that Christmas Eve-like excitement.
I also miss waiting for the release of new Quikutz alphas and shape dies. I still use my massive collection, I'd love to fall in love with something new though.
Most of all I miss my two BFF scrapping buddies and our twice weekly crop sessions when we all lived near each other. We're in different states now and only get together twice a year if we're lucky!
*sigh* times sure have changed

Same here. I so miss sitting, reading, and marking/taking metal notes as I went through my magazines! I loved magazine mail day! We also do not have any lss left, our last one closed last year. I also miss scrapping with my girl friends, when I moved down here 12 years ago, we started getting together for an annual girls crafting weekend somewhere in the middle...but that hasn't happened in 5 years or so

I miss the magazines and local stores too, but what I really miss are all the great little companies that went belly up or were absorbed by big companies. They ALL had different styles and it was refreshing to see all the variety. Sadly these days it seems as if almost everything looks the same.

It's like, one company comes up with some trend, then all the others adjust it just enough to make it theirs, and all do it. Can you say: owls mustaches pennant banners foxes kites cameras etc

I miss the local scrapbook stores and the magazines, too. Particularly Simple Scrapbooks. I do love Scrapbook and Cards Today, though, and really love that they have a print edition.
I miss KI Memories (a lot), Scenic Route, Making Memories, and Ella Publishing.
And of course I miss Two Peas.

I also miss the versatile & usable color palettes, patterns, & products from Chatterbox & KI Memories. Luckily, I still have both left in inventory & frequently incorporate it onto my current pages! ...what I really miss are all the great little companies that went belly up or were absorbed by big companies. They ALL had different styles and it was refreshing to see all the variety. Sadly these days it seems as if almost everything looks the same. I'm also disappointed with the lack of variety in the industry. Most of those previously boutique companies with unique styles now fall under the corporate American Crafts umbrella, which has streamlined these brands to resemble each other & offer similar embellishments!

I miss having my scrap buddy. She got married and her husband doesn't "get" scrapping. He likes to be with her all of the time. Happy for her. Sad for me.

Miss:
the monthly magazines - when the first peas started posting they received theirs, I knew mine would arrive in about 4-5 days. the closed LSS's local and online. Two Peas videos and especially the gallery Kitty and Jamie + their warehouse videos Quikutz monthly releases and all they hype that led to them SB conventions with tons booths and bargains from name brand manuf.
sigh.....
Forgot to add: I miss my Two Peas badges!!!!

Oh, wow, I miss so much. Like many of you said, I miss the magazines and having several LSS to choose from. I miss putting my little ones down for a nap and getting a little scrapping time in. I also really, really miss having a scrapbook room. When I used to scrap regularly I was confident about my layouts and I was happy with them. Then I stopped scrapping for a long time and I have never been able to get that confidence back. These days I take longer to scrap and hesitate a lot. Oh, the scrapping good old days.

I miss: really good scrapbook stores lots of crops lots of places - especially 24 or 48 hour crops, getaways and the like that were affordable! scrap mags in the heyday of scrapping CKC in my area (they came only twice ) the days of scrap message boards with hundreds of posters
I guess I just miss what I once had and don't anymore. But I still have alot so I can't sit in a corner and sulk.....

I miss the LSS (there is one here but her prices are SO high I don't go in) I miss the crops at the LSS - the friends, the laughter, the late nights, the challenges I miss the magazines I miss the hoopla of new stuff coming out for CHA in January (and sometimes summer) - its not like it used to be I miss the individuality of the lines/companies I miss when they weren't all owned by one company I miss making time to scrapbook I miss that not many of my friends continue to do it

I guess I miss the magazines the most. There were some nice LSS where my mom lives, but not many here. While I loved going, they weren't part of my regular scrappy life.
The magazines helped me feel "connected" to trends and innovations in the crafting world. I agree with the others who have said it's not the same to go online. I liked learning about new products from the advertisements in the magazines. Nowadays, I don't even know what's new in the scrapping world. The internet is just too vast for casual browsing - I end up slogging through too many things of marginal interest (e.g. long, dragging haul or process videos).
I buy the (overpriced!) UK magazines when I can, but it's not quite the same.

I miss the excitement of getting a new magazine in the mail. I subscribed to several and PaperKutz was by far my favorite.
I miss the tiny mom-and-pop companies that were launched from kitchen tabletops, like Kangaroo & Joey, Magic Scraps, and Pagerz lettering templates, etc.
I miss the thrill of sneak peeks from the CHA shows: I couldn't wait to see the shoppingdiva's photostream.
I miss my favorite lss most of all. She was a business owner who happened to own an LSS and she hired a lot of local art college students to work there. Great selection of product, clerks that knew their stuff, and everything you could possibly ask for in a store. When her MIL started having issues with dementia and then committed suicide, the store closed. So sad.
I miss the crop every National Scrapbook Day. Twelve hours of nonstop scrapping, pizza, bingo, door prizes, and friendship with girls who just understood the fascination with paper and glue.
I miss the monthly crops with a dozen friends and just hanging out. Sometimes I even miss the CM nazi loudly broadcasting my pages would be ruined forever because I had the audacity to use non-CM approved vellum which would cause the whole project to crumble and rot right out of my hands and before my very eyes.
I miss the days of using grease pencil on my photos, handcutting with circle templates, and Lindsay Ostrom's lettering books.
I miss those baby days of my kids growing up but I'm so glad I had this hobby to capture not only the celebrations but the mundane things that have slipped my mind even though I swore I would never forget.
I miss the loved ones in my photos that are gone now but seeing their photos and reading the stories is comforting and makes me miss them less.
I miss film cameras: there was something magical in opening that little yellow developing envelope to see how my pix turned out.
I don't think I'll ever fully give up scrapbooking but I do miss a lot of the way it used to be done and the way it used to make me feel. ((sigh))

I miss the days when there were LSS everywhere. Crop rooms where you could use the tools for free or a small fee. Crops and classes every week. Expos and other weekend events at least a couple times a year.
There are still a couple LSS in my area, one has even expanded into a larger location. But it's not the same as it used to be.
