I miss scrapping with by BFF scrap buddy. The fleur-de-lis loving friend who just got up and left my life one day. It took me a long while to be able to get back to scrapping on my own but I'm there now and enjoying my hobby again. But I will forever miss her and those days very much.

The recent font post reminded me that I miss the threads on the old Two Peas sharing what fonts people are using on their Cameos. I remember Lobster being really popular on the old board! Maybe I'll start a thread on my next break!

Quickutz releasing new shapes or a new font every month. I had a friend who had insider info for me and I used to post what was new. I totally miss that!!!

I miss:
*Working for a scrapbooking manufacturer and being in the scrappy world loop of other manufacturers and their releases. I feel lost now. *All of the hustle and bustle of the scrappy world when it was in it's heyday. The excitement of the arrival of the new things. *Working CHA and meeting customers (Mostly just the customer part and getting to see the floor go from warehouse to mall status over night. I don't miss booth set up at ALL@! LOL) So cool! *All day/over night crops with my friends *Two Peas gallery (Not the message boards, just the inspiration I got from the LO's posted. Even with all of the blogs/scrappy websites/youtube videos...out there, I have yet to find one that I really enjoy flipping through and getting tons of inspiration all in one place.

I also miss the 2Ps Gallery. I post my layouts in different places now, but it was just great to have all those inspiring layouts in one place. Plus, there's rarely if ever any comments or feedback. Most of all, I miss the scrappy challenges, and weekly 2Ps digi-chats. Some of my best LOs were created for challenges, and it seems that challenges now are almost all product-driven, not technique, design, or color driven like they used to be. If anyone knows where I can find good digital scrapbooking non-product challenges, let me know.

I miss the scrapbooking magazines. Sob! (I'm still not over their demise).
I miss the 2Ps gallery. So much talent, so much inspiration, all in one place. Nowadays, there's still talent and inspiration to be found, but it is all diffused and dispersed, and much harder to find. You have to work to find it, I mean. 2Ps made it easy.
I also miss the 2Ps fonts.
I miss the energy and excitement of scrapbooking at its peak. I first discovered scrapbooking in 2003, when the hobby (or the industry that supported, some might say "enabled," the hobby) was on the ascendant, was flourishing and expanding. Just a few years later, by about 2006 or 2007, the bubble had burst: the LSS started to close, the magazines began to shut down. Seems like scrapbooking is to the American hobby/leisure industry as Greece is to the European Union: Bankruptcy looms, so: austerity measures all around!

I miss 2Ps! --the gallery was always so inspiring and you could really stay on top of the latest and greatest. I felt the magazines were already dated if you were on 2Ps,so I had already started letting those subs go before the mags went out. I also miss the one-stop inspiration --the gallery, the boards, the garden girls. Who has time for viewing 100's of blogs or videos?!
I'm very happy and thankful that we have the Refugee.

I miss having my scrap buddy. She got married and her husband doesn't "get" scrapping. He likes to be with her all of the time. Happy for her. Sad for me. Ick! People who bail on their hobby to be all goo-goo eyed w/their spouse bug me. You can spend time apart and still be in love. I'm so sorry you lost your buddy! Like others, I really really miss the magazines. Opening my mailbox and finding CK or Simple Scrapbooking or Paperkuts made my whole week! Scrapping all day on Friday at my LSS. dMarie & GoneScrappin' - the two websites I first shopped at. I'm pretty sure they're both gone. Letter stickers on a roll. Don't get me wrong, I love my Slice and Thickers are awesome, but I really miss those stickers. I miss my pal (who is a RefuPea) living in CT and going to her house for scrappy weekends: bagels for breakfast, shopping at Memories & Scrapbook Palace, scrapping til the wee hours, sleeping in the lovely guest room . . . and all this while enjoying her wonderful company. I think that's what I miss most of all.

I miss all day crops at my LSS. I miss my LSS. I miss needing 2 full days at CKC! I didn't even go the past two years and it used to be something I planned on spending two full days there and came home with tons of supplies and took 5-6 classes! I miss taking in person classes where you got tons of inspiration, a good amount of product and pages you were excited to use. I miss Scrapworks, MM, Chatterbox, Scenic Route and Autumn Leaves- their idea books were the best!

I miss traveling to Scrapfest @ the Mall of America. I miss Archivers. I miss being able to get my CM scrapbooks engraved on the spine with the year. I, too am so thankful for the Refupeas. I was actually almost in tears when 2 peas closed. It was one too many scrap booking losses in 1 year.

patin - I was in tears when 2Peas closed, but thankfully found this site quickly I miss Archiver's a lot. BUT, my wallet is much fatter! I had one I could run to on my lunch hour. Somehow running in for some blue cardstock always cost at least $30!

I miss my disposable income I could spend on scrap crap every month! All of it. I worked 1 block from Michaels and I would go everyday with a coworker to shop.
Then there were my kit clubs. Then there were my online orders to every site known to mankind. I do have an awesome stash and love it all. I just need to go donstairs once I get my cast off and use some of it!!!

All of the above! I miss "not so local" scrap book stores. When I planned our vacations I would locate stores, and surrounding activities for my family. We got some local color, and made non-touristy stops because Peas helped me with this.

This is exactly what I was going to say. I LOVED scrapfest - the challenges were terrific, the crops were exciting and I even miss counting points. I am still in touch with a lot of the ladies from there but it's not quite the same.

-- I miss magazines (that had actual 'content' rather than just stories that were just 'ads' for new product). I remember Memory Makers fondly, although that was probably partly because I was a really new scrapper at the time.
-- I miss going to SB events with my sister- we would cram all of our stuff into a tiny, tiny space in a big convention center area and crop, or we would spend all day at the SB Expo to see all the latest and greatest stuff, and take classes.
I think what I really miss is the 'newness' and 'freshness' of things or ideas that I hadn't ever seen or been exposed to before. With the advent of blogs, Pinterest, the internet, and having been around scrapping for 15+ years now, there really isn't anything that new or different any more-- at least it doesn't feel like it to me, anyway.
I miss the excitement of scrapping that I used to have, although that's not the industry's fault in any way; life just gets in the way and scrapping is pretty far down on my priority list, unfortunately.
(this probably isn't the kind of post you were hoping to get on this thread, is it? lol!!)
ETA: after reading the rest of the replies, I see that mine wasn't the only post talking about the nostalgia of 'the good old days' in scrapland. I also miss the 2Peas gallery; it was nice to have all that inspiration and creativity in one place.

I miss those magazines! I really miss Scrapfest!! I didn't go to what turned out to be the last one and I still feel awful about it. I can only dream about taking another class with Tim Holtz again.

I agree with all you ladies!
I really, really miss feeling connected to scrappers.
I miss trying to "spot" another pea with green ribbons on our purses, or some peas had little flair buttons made with the bucket of peas.
I definitely miss the excitement of QK coming out with new releases each month. Though I didn't always buy them, I still loved the excitement.
I also missed things being new. It seems like everything is done to death now.

I miss the tv how-to shows where they would feature several different projects per half hour. I used to sit and watch Julie With the Weird Last Name teach folks how to doodle.
Yes, there are YouTube videos but they just aren't the same as a professionally filmed show.

It seems like everything is done to death now. I still have a zippered sweatshirt w/the logo that I bought during some middle-of-the-nite shopfest I had. If I wear it to a crop, it's guaranteed someone will recognize it. The feeling of sisterhood is always nice. Wish I had a flair button! Didn't even know they made those.

I miss Scenic Route. KI memories Two Peas. Glitter girl and the garden girls. Scrappy magazines. A growing hobby rather than a fading one.
but there are now more dies, stamps, inks, mists. Project life and 4x4, 2x2, 3x4 cards. Art journaling, card makers, PLers, coming up and out. I do like wood veneer, thickers, chipboard, enamel dots...things that are more available now. All "memes" have their day. Flowers have come and gone, butterflies were on everything about 10 years back. And flourishes...they were everywhere too! I like the revolving door of "neutral" (ie flowers, feathers, foxes) Don't miss the prima flower craze. Don't miss the muted phase.
Just making sure I stock up on items I adore because I know they might not always be around...

Although, I do have a new friend who formerly owned a scrapbook store. I'm hoping that we can start scrapping together.
