.... if they knew exactly what you & your friends had said?
I am SOOOOOO glad that there was no texting when I was a teen. My poor parents would have had a coronary.

Absolutely and I hid my senior yearbook for years because of some of the stuff that was written in there.

Well there was no texting back then but we passed plenty of notes in class! As well, I was living in Germany during my teens so I had lots of correspondence with my cousins and friends in Canada. I held on to all of these letters and notes and I know my mom snooped and read them but she'd never admit it.

I was a very boring teenager. They would have fallen asleep from boredom.

Thank god I graduated before cell phones and texting became commonplace. I probably would've been locked up if my parents read any of my texts.

I found notes my bff and I wrote to each other. if we liked a boy, we described him as "perfect foxtrot height". we were not referring to dancing. and I was not "foxtrotting" with anyone at that age, but liked to talk like I was I guess!!!

Yes, my parents would have been horrified if they had known what I was up to when I was 16/17.

We definitely wrote notes. They were not always innocent. We shared "private" notes with our bffs. Our parents may or may not have snooped. Really not so different from what kids are doing these days.

Yup! And I also kept my yearbook squirreled away. While I think back with fond memories, I am happy that we all made it through those years with little to no tragedy or repercussions. I am still friends with many from my highschool clique and when we get together we still reminisce and laugh about it all. But we all do agree that we were lucky, and I can't even imagine if it was immortalized on the Internet at the time (and forever). And it had nothing to to do with bad parental skills as I had great parents. I think my mom would have been more "shocked" than my father.

I learned to get rid of "the evidence." And for me, it really was all talk. But I talked a big game!

While I was no angel, I have been shocked plenty of times by stories from my parent's youth. They certainly had a life of their own before marriage and parenthood.

Nope, I was a very good, innocent, compliant kid in high school. They always assumed the worst, so they'd have been surprised to find out the actually WERE wrong, I guess.

Yes. The crap I did and said starting at about 12...omg my parents would have shit.
My mom found my journal once and read it. Omg...that was horrible.
That siad, I try to impress on my kids and students that anything they put out there on the i terent or through text could bite them in the ass and could go viral.

Um, yeah... the notes we passed in class were bad enough. I can only imagine the trouble we'd have gotten into if we'd had texting.

i don't think i would have ever texted any i wasn't prepared to get busted by my parents for. there was no privacy in our house so my phone would have been free game assuming i would have even gotten a phone. i, too, am glad there was no texting when i was growing up. the personal computers were barely becoming household items and the internet had not been born yet. if course they was the occasional note passed between friends that i didn't discard properly before getting home. LOL

There is absolutely nothing that I could have said or done that would have shocked my mother. She was the original wild child.

I was a very boring teenager. They would have fallen asleep from boredom. My notes that I passed were pretty tame ... phone calls too ... I would think that my texts would be pretty dull if I was a teen now Of course, my parents didn't know what I was up to with my boyfriend because I didn't share that info with anyone

My best friend and I and my boyfriend and I had code words too! My boyfriends mom was very strict, so that was the main reason we had code words.

My parents would've been very concerned because I was very boring. That's how my husband and I are! We encourage our daughters to go out more and spend time with friends. Right now my 17 yr. old has her "boyfriend" over and she, he and her sisters (12 and 15) are laughing and having so much fun playing basketball and hanging out together. We love when they have him and their other friends over. We love this age group of kids!

Probably not, I was #7 out of 9, very little shocked my parents by the time I was a teenager. My Mother was pretty much a realist and knew her children were neither perfect nor innocent.
