I received a facebook private message with a phone pic attached of a printed bridal shower invitation & my "friend" typed "hope you can come!". So, does this mean that actual invitations WERE prepared & printed on paper but I won't be receiving one? LOLOLOL!!!

Maybe you should take a picture of a gift and send it back with where it can be purchased or something like that. Just curious........when is the shower? Is it this weekend where there is no time to mail? Like maybe you were on the B list. LOL

hahahahahaha! I love the idea of sending a pic of the gift! (I wouldn't have the balls to do it, but I think it's an awesome idea.)

Maybe only the non-computer generation got invitations to save on costs and this was seen to be preferable for the social-media generation(s)? That's all I've got. It's kind of strange.

Normally I am so unbothered by this kind of thing but that one makes me feel all kinds of passive-aggressive. I want to take a screenshot, mark my RSVP on the screenshot really badly like in Paint, and then send it back without commentary.
It takes a lot to get me feeling all bitchy but that would push several of my buttons.

Funny thing is, just today my 72 year old aunt asked me why I didn't just do email invites instead of sending out paper invites for my dad's 70th bday party. I told her he had requested paper invites. Then she said "Well, you could've just taken a picture of it and sent that out!" I was but didn't say anything.

I'm glad it wasn't just me in thinking this was Tacky! The shower is next Saturday so there would be time to mail my invite since I'm in the same zip code. I would have preferred that she just send me the details typed out in a message instead of sending me a pic of the printed invite, lol. Oh well, I'm pretty sure I'm going to be busy next Saturday doing not that. And the idea to send a pic of a gift is brilliant!

I agree, its tacky. Nothing surprises me anymore though. I also think its tacky when parents message me that their children are selling something.

Maybe there weren't enough actual printed ones so they sent a picture to those who they thought wouldn't care? I dunno, I got nothin'!!! Very interesting ...

I would not go. We only go to events that we are mailed an invite to. Unless it is truly a fb/email invite.

Maybe she used an app like Red Stamp to make the invitation. I use that for my Easter party and then email it to my invitees.

I had some party invites come back to me in the mail several weeks after I had mailed them. It was way too late to re-mail, since the party was a couple days away. So I took a picture of both sides of the invite and message it to them. I really wanted them to know they were invited and that I had actually mailed the invite earlier. The picture showed the post office label showing undeliverable.
I hope I wasn't tacky in doing this - yikes! It never crossed my mind at that point...
