I am getting a salon service that takes 6+hours. Should I tip more than 20% to account for the length of the appointment?

Is this what you referenced on the summer bucket list thread? You know we're going to need pictures when you're done!
And, I would think 20% is still appropriate because I would assume the charge is higher for a service that would take six hours than one that might take, say two hours.

I would stick with 20%, or whatever % you would normally tip. A six hour service should already have a price tag associated with such a lengthy service and as such you don't need to up the % you would tip.

I do think a six-hour service will have an associated fee and therefore the tip should based on that.
And now I have to ask (though you should feel free not to answer) what sort of service lasts six hours. I hope it's something pleasant!

No ;( I want a really short cut but haven't decided if it would look well with my face. I've worn my hair the same way for at least 10 years with slight variations....boring!!!! One day hahah The cost of the service doesn't really match the time it takes that's why I thought maybe I should tip more. It's so effing uncomfortable she should pay me . I want to tip well because the style will require me to return to the salon for washing, additional styling etc.

What are you having done? Microbraids? I would say that 20% (or whatever percentage you customarily tip) is good but if it is something where your stylist or esthetician is working on you continuously for that time I would be more generous than if you were lying on a bed covered in mud masks,

Oooo, it looks really pretty though.
Little twists or big twists? How long? What will you do for 6 hours? I hope you have a good book to read or knit or something.
We definitely want to see pictures.
ETA, oh yeah, and the tip question - 20% of the cost, sometimes I'll do 25% but if this is going to cost $400 or something, 20% is fine. (Now I'm curious....will it be several hundred dollars?)

I am waffling between medium and small. I will let her decide. She is actually from Senegal. As for what I will be doing for six hours... No clue. I am charging all my devices so I may read or just listen to music. Also bringing alcohol. Discreetly of course as my appointment is at 7am Oooo, it looks really pretty though. It's 220-275 depending on the size of the braid. So 20% wouldn't be outrageous.

I had to look that up. I've seen it but I guess I didn't know what it was called. Pretty neat. I didn't realize that a "fiber" was woven/twisted in to create the shape.
It makes me think of a massage therapist I used to go to regularly. She always did a scalp massage that included hair pulling. She would take fairly good size chunks all over my head and pull rhythmically. It hurt but felt good at the same time and left my scalp feeling tingly afterwards. Very relaxing.

I would stay at 20%.
That style is lovely and I admire the the dedication of sitting for 6 hours : )
I have enough trouble sitting 2 hours for a cut & color every 4 weeks!
