You need them because they're being sold for such a good price? For example-shoes. I like very specific brands in dress shoes-Born, Clarks, Ecco, Naturalizer, but they can be pretty pricey. I am always looking at 6pm.com because I know some of these will go on sale. I've gotten REALLY good prices lately for some shoes--up to 70% off in some instances, and since I know that my shoe size is now pretty stable since the weight loss, I find myself buying dress shoes in the styles that I like-not trendy but classic styles, that I know I will use but won't use now. I'm also trying to buy accessories (such as scarves) because my clothing sizes have not stabilized yet and I'm getting tired of wearing similar things clothes-wise, so I thought using scarves would be a way to pep things up a bit. I just bought a scarf that retails for 170.00 but was on sale for 52.00 at 6pm.com because I know it's an accessory that I will use for many years. Do you do this? Or are you the "I'll buy it when I need it and not before," type of person?

I'm a buy it ahead person whether it's clothing, shoes or food. If it's on sale, and I know I'm going to need it in the reasonably near future, I buy it. When my girls were young, anytime I found tennies in the next size or two up from what they were currently wearing, I bought them; same with jeans and shirts. Food-wise, our store runs very good sales every week. Whatever is on sale, I usually stock up and will have enough until the sale rotates back around.
My motto is "never pay full price for anything"!

I will occasionally buy things before I need them because I "know" I will use them. Unfortunately by the time the event or whatever rolls around I'm often bored of the idea of the shoes or outfit or whatever and go buy something new. Which leaves the older item sitting in my closet unused until I give it away years later. So I've tried to quit doing that, it's not really working for me LOL.

Yep! I am a bargain hunter like that. Even to the point where I will buy the kids their Chocolate Advent Calendars just after New Years when they are half off, and save them til next year We get the pricey ones like Kinder Egg Calendars since we buy them half off. Things like shoes and clothing.... if you know you have a stable size that is not likely to change, I would definitly buy when it's on sale. But beware of ending up buying stuff JUST BECAUSE it's on sale. And end up with too much stuff to actually use.

Yes, I definitely buy things on sale and store away for future use. I'll tell ya, I was totally on board with you when you said you found a great deal on shoes and a scarf. But when you said you spent $52 on a scarf!!!! I almost gasped out loud. I must be really cheap because I would never spend that much on a scarf. I love scarves, but I'm lucky if I wear them more than 2-3 times in a season. I'm more of a "$5 for a scarf is a good deal" girl!

If I find a clothing item that I like at a good price, I will buy it assuming it is work or casual clothing. (Ie. will get frequent use). I'm not likely to buy formal evening wear without a specific reason.
The clothing that I do buy for myself, DH, or the kids would need to fit reasonably with our monthly budget. I wish I was the kind of woman who could spend my paycheque on one fabulous dress but I just don't have the guts!

Yes. Just like you, I definitely do this for shoes. I like one brand of sneakers, so when I am at their store i will buy back-ups so that I don't always have to be going to the store or paying shipping. Plus, they often run specials if you buy more than one pair.

Depends on what it is, and how often it goes on sale. I try to maximize my savings on things as much as possible, so sometimes that means stocking up on things like paper towels, TP, certain kinds of cereal even if I don't really need it right now. I will only buy clothes for DD if it's drastically on sale or next to new, and I almost never pay full price for clothing or shoes for myself either. The only exception to this is if I see something at Costco at a good price and know the retail on it is significantly higher in other stores.

I do. Dreary stuff. My weight isn't stable so I always make sure I have a black dress and dress pants for a funeral. Both our parents are old. I don't want to be out shopping for funeral clothes the day before. My daily wardrobe is only casual

You've obviously never had a problem with the chocolate going off? Nope! Never been an issue. I've tasted the chocolate, and it's been fine. We store them in a very cool storageroom, so maybe that helps?

I buy toiletries that way. I'll stock up if it's on a great price, especially if I have a coupon to go with it.
We'll always need toilet paper, shampoo, conditioner, and soap.
