I surprised him with Merle Haggard tickets for Christmas. I bought them on my birthday in October, so it seems like I have had them forever!
Anyway, tonight was the concert and it was fabulous! One of his son's and his band were the opening act. He was really good and looked just like his dad. His youngest son is now in his band, The Strangers. We had the best time. Merle has been my husband's favorite singer for over 50 years. Starting back when he was a kid and his parents would listen to him. I took lots of pictures and videos and we listened to them on the way home. We so needed this night.

My husband is an old Bakersfield boy. Knew Merle years ago and was just saying the other day that we should go see his show. Glad to hear it was good.

What an amazing present and experience!
My dad loved old country music and Merle Haggard was a favourite! I am so thrilled y'all got to enjoy that.
I love experiences as gifts. You'll never forget tonight. My dad gave me some nice presents, but it's the time that we spent flying together, riding horses, walking through graveyards talking about history, etc. that I'll never forget.
I'm trying to do that with my loved ones. My dh still talks about his day at the US Open last summer, and although I spent two days in bed and missed a reunion that I was really looking forwards to, I will never forget the hour that I spent with my nephew at Christmas sitting in this Indy car race simulator with him on my lap, helping him drive since he couldn't reach the clutch and the gas. We played until our initials were the highest (he insisted that I put my name in as well) He talked about that all week. My niece and nephew are so sweet, obedient, and concerned for others, and so appreciative of anything people do, I love spoiling them rotten.

Those are my favorite kinds of gifts to give, also. It about killed me holding on to the tickets for 2 months before I gave them to him. He cried when he opened them!
