Okay, I have a letter on letterhead that I want to make copies of, and it looks like I need a converter to change the JPG of my scan to a PDF. Am I right, or is there a better way?
I'm okay with downloading a converter but am paranoid about getting some bad stuff along with it. Can anyone recommend a JPG->PDF converter that works and won't give me viruses? I have a job interview tomorrow morning and want to have this letter copied to take to it (and am going to be out of town most of the day today to visit a very sick MIL), so I don't have tons of time.
Thanks in advance!

If you are printing the letter I don't see what it matters if it is jpg or pdf.
If you are sending an electronic file a jpg should be fine but some places only take pdf files and a pdf file makes sure their printer settings don't change the layout of your letter.
eta: my scanner software allows me to select pdf at the time of scanning. Could you rescan and select it to save the file as a pdf?

When I tried to print it as a JPG the margins were very big and it really looked different from the original letter. I did attach it electronically once already, that site was fine with it in JPG form.

Do you have any photo editing software? Photoshop can save as a PDF, I think PS Elements can too. I would even think many word processing programs can.

I use BullZip all the time. I generally convert TO jpg or png with it, but you can convert jpg to pdf with it. It is a virtual printer. You click your item you want to "print" (convert" and then select BullZip as your printer, instead of your regular printer. I generally use it with Silhouette Studio to convert their proprietary file format to a printable and high resolution JPG or PNG. It has been quite a while since I have downloaded it -and if I remember correctly it is a safe download - BUT READ EVERYTHING before clicking ok. There may be a toolbar install somewhere in it, but you can easily opt out if you READ IT ALL before clicking OK BullZip

Open your jpg and try file to save as and see what your choices are in there. Make sure to keep an original copy that ISN'T a PDF as you can't edit a PDF.

Is your letter in Word? What happens if you save the whole document as a PDF?
