I just returned from a three day Weekend Memories event in Leesburg, VA. What a great time I had from 12 noon Fri to 4 pm Sun! The venue was at the Best Western where 80 of my closest scrapping friends joined together to make a heck of a lot of creativity happen! There were vendors and a massage therapist, door prizes, plus lunch, dinner, dessert, drinks and snacks, and six foot tables and outlets. I stayed at the hotel so I didn't miss a moment. My BFF and I went to a previous one in Mar and our next outing is in Aug. I'm so glad there's still opportunities to crop out in the scrapping world, it helps to keep my mojo going at home until the next time rolls around!
What did you all do?
(Ok, it wasn't totally a bed of roses: the music was mostly classic rock, which I can only take in small doses {it helps that I'm hard of hearing} and I was surrounded by the phlegmiest bunch of women I've ever heard--coughing, throat clearing, hacking up a lung--holy snot-fest! Other than these minor annoyances, a fab time was had by all lol

I was actually able to get upstairs and color stamped images. I haven't been able to do that since the beginning of May.
I had foot surgery so it was awkward as I have to keep my foot elevated 24/7. I ended up with both legs on top of the table I was working on. It was too uncomfortable with one leg up. It worked! I used a portable desktop on my lap to lay my images on.

Ginger, glad you were able to do some coloring. Is there any way to move the stuff you need so you can at least be comfy on the couch or in bed?
I actually finished 2 art journal pages and started a layout. Very productive creative time for me, since last September it seems I just get to dream about it rather than actually accomplishing anything. I think it's finally starting to turn around a bit. Helps that I'm rearranging my space.

OP - that sounds like a lot of fun! I would love that kind of crop. Well, except for the phlegm, of course.

lisadv....I've been coloring in my coloring books when I'm in the recliner. I'm sooooo tired of being in this already. It was nice to have a different change of scenery over the weekend.
I'd love to use my copics while in the recliner, but that would take a lot of moving of stuff and my family has been so good already I don't want to push it.

I managed to do 3 12x12 layouts! Took the grands to the carnival last week and just HAD to scrap those photos! I've been hoarding my OA Midway papers just for this!

I had to create a card for my brothers upcoming birthday so I forced myself off to my room. I have not been into making cards at all for quite awhile but once I got in there it was a whirlwind!! I created his card and then decided I had a bunch of cards from various classes with sentiments I wouldn't use much so I was able to fiddle around with them and make them into more useable birthday and "just a note" cards. Then I just kept going and made a few more from scratch. I must say I was very impressed with myself! LOL! I was happy because I dug out stuff I have had sitting around that I was always meaning to use but never got around to it. I used inchie squares and plenty of my embossing folders (which had been gathering dust) plus did some heat embossing as well. Now, maybe this weekend I can have the same inspiration with some layouts.

I did a complete overhaul of my scrapbook room! I started over the Memorial Day weekend and finished this weekend. Last year at this time we had a daughter graduate from high school, another graduate from college and then two months later a big family wedding (same college graduate daughter). We had a great time doing papercrafts to get ready for all of the parties, showers, wedding, etc. but by the time the last event was done (and we had moved new bride/groom to California!), I was exhausted.... and soon it was time for the holidays and I just never got around to getting the room put back in order...and it was BAD! I spent a couple hours in there last night working on a special mini album for a friend and gosh, it's nice to have my sanctuary back!

Went to a 3 day crop and like you, checkwheelsdown it was great w/a few thorns. The hotel totally screwed us out of the big conference room so there were 15 of us squished into a much smaller space. Luckily, everyone kept their wits about them and it all worked out. We didn't even really have any big skirmishes about the thermostat, lol. The gal I went with & I are convinced that some of the other ladies lied about how many pages they had done, just to get more door prize tickets (or to make themselves look amazing, I'm not sure which). There's no way this one gal completed 18 pages in 6 hrs. And another one had all her pics matted & adhered to her background cardstock. All she was doing was slapping on her embellishments. How does that count as doing a page? We were cracking up . . . All in all it was a fun weekend. Oh, and ftr, I only got 13 pages done.

That bogus page counting would bug me also...I'm a slow scrapper, so the fact that I managed to finish 10 pages was a miracle (good on ya for getting 13 done)! We don't get door prize tickets for pages completed at this particular crop though, the organizer lady is just happy to have us lol, so we get a ticket per day just for being there...if you win, you get to pick your prize, it's good stuff too

I had grandsons sleeping in my scrapbook room last weekend but I took some pics of them for later & going to a birthday party, bowling practice and ballet recital with some more grandchildren tomorrow. One of my 9 yo grandsons is a champion bowler and I have never seen him bowl yet. His mom has been told he can get college scholarships for bowling. Who knew? So I should be getting some more good pics for scrapping.
None of my kids live in the same town as I do now so getting pics is harder.

And I preplan ALL my pages! In my defense, very few of my layouts are just photos & cardstock. This weekend alone, I used alcohol inks twice, stitched circles on a layout, stamped, attached raffia w/an eyelet, heat embossed and layed out these jewels an a swirly pattern that I had to copy from the sticker sheet because I was so very wrong in thinking they were one big design and not individually adhered to the sheet (don't EVEN get me started on how tedious that was . . . ). Even my journaling takes long - I write it out once to get my ideas down, then copy it pencil onto the journaling block to make sure it fits and then go over it w/the pen for the final copy. I'm not bragging, I swear. I just want it out there in the cosmos that my pages took a long time because I did a lot to them. And let me continue to digress by saying that I tend to do more involved pages when I scrap w/other people because it just seems more fun. At home scrapping alone, it feels like work to be stitching or chalking, kwim? Maybe it's just me, lol . . .

Girl I'm in awe, and I know exactly what you mean by doing more involved pages with other people! Something about the collective mojo that makes a complicated page more fun to do...it helps to have others spurring you on. The pages I finish at home are works of love, 'cause...it's work!

That sounds like fun. Whileiknowiwouldnever win any prizes for speed people trying to cheat the system would bug me to. I used to go to a crop with someone that could get her pages out quick and they were not prematted photos and such. She did all the work at the crops but a three day crop she would get 60 pages done. There were always other activities as well so it wasn't really a full three days. One day we would go into town for lunch and then we had pot luck dinners. I don't know how she did it. They weren't just plain either. Maybe not as technique filled as some but still decent pages.
I haven't scrapped in a while. I started a page a few weeks ago but it still needs the journaling and is still sitting on my desk. School is out tomorrow and we will have a busy weekend but I hope to play a bit next week.

Our scrapbook group had a 'craft room crawl', it was styled like a progressive dinner.
there were 6 of us, 5 homes...we started at one home and made our way to the final home, where wine/drinks/cupcakes were served.
Each home provided appetizers/finger foods and we 'toured' each other's crafting space.
We started at 5pm...and went home @10:30...had a great time just getting together and talking and seeing each other's rooms and organization.

I watched a scrapping video. I'm going to try to organize some stuff while I am without my scrap area. MDscrapaholic - I scored a few more Midway papers at the OA warehouse sale. They didn't have much of it. I just haven't found another line I like for scrapbooking amusement park photos. I'm going to have to get more creative!

This weekend we went to the lake and I got some great pictures of my kid wake boarding. I don't need more to scrap, but they are more fun than scrapping the graduation pictures.

I got a couple of cards done, and spent some time looking at some very creative blogs. I got some great ideas, but my brain usually blows up after a while because I get intimidated thinking that these gals are so much more creative than me and that I will never be able to achieve the level of creativity shown on these blogs. I have to get over this sense of inferiority and just work on my own style!

Now I really wish there were scrappy/crafty people close by. (I live in the country, 45 minutes in any direction to get to a larger town.) But that is still awesomeness.
