blah blah blah slow dancing, blah blah blah romancing
Lips like cherries, lips like wine, lips taste like sangria....
Can you tell I've been listening to country lately? Feel free to add your favorite? overdone song lyrics heard.

Well, listening to country music was your first mistake. . . OK, but that's what I'm in the mood for! Some really good lyrics are in country songs.

lolol... I'm a HUGE BS fan, but this one's not my favorite either. It's driving me re-re-re-re-re-re-redneck crazy.

Can't stand it when the same line is repeated a billion times in one song, and then the song is overplayed.

I know this song is a HUGE fail in my book for Blake. I love country music, but this song seriously makes my ears bleed.... Almost as much as Pink Floyd 'The Wall' does...
And now I'm off to listen to something just to get it out of my mind now

Any song includes "catch me when I fall" as a lyric
Seems like a lot of clumsy people in songs.

I used to love country in the 90s. That video right there is why I haven't listened to country music in ages. I think that salad needs more tomatoes in it. And some depth. It doesn't help that my DH is a songwriter. The longer I'm married to him the less tolerance I have for mainstream anything. It's so full of repetitive, bumper sticker dreck. One verse, a bridge, and a chorus that's repeated twenty bajillion times.

The song that drove me over the edge was James Blunt's Beautiful. Biggest whinefest ever. I wanted to slap that guy and tell him to get a real problem.

I am a fan of Blake as much for his goofiness/humor as singing and when I saw him sing that one (on The Voice?) even I who am not often very critical was like... WHAT? That was just a bit weird and "off" to me.
The one with "chew tobacco, chew tobacco, chew tobacco, spit" (The Boys 'Round Here) always sounded like "Chewbacca, Chewbacca" (as in Star Wars) so my DS would always sing that part for me with the noice/growl for the "spit", as he can do the Chewwy call awesomely!
Chewbacca, Chewbacca, Chewbacca roooaar!" That's my boy!

Now I can't hear it without remembering this huge guy on stage prancing around. It was awesomely hilarious. Try to youtube it.

I was excited to finally get a country music station, we hadn't had one in years. I liked a lot of the songs, but after awhile, I just couldn't believe how many of them are about guys driving around in a car, (or a truck, or a tractor); listening to the radio; with a girl in tight blue jeans (or daisy dukes, or a sundress). Apparently there's not much to do in the country. I got bored with it so I only listen to that station occasionally now. I really like Blake, and his wife, they sing some of my favorite new country songs, but I agree that Sangria one is the pits. (I miss the old, old days of country that my mom used to listen to: Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Freddy Fender, etc.

My husband just switched over to country (we typically only listen to hard rock) and I am having a hard time with all the songs that just throw out a bunch of words or phrases that prove you are "country" and call it a song.

I think country music needs to enter a 12-step program. I miss the old days, too.
