We are looking to buy a house soon and are looking to get pre approved for a VA loan. The one we have now is through USAA and while I love them for insurance, I'm not sure how in love with them I am for mortgages. It was quite a hassle to get this house closed on and I actually didn't have the exact amount needed for closing until I pulled into the parking lot of the office. There were a bunch of other small issues with them and not a lot of great reviews online.
If you have a VA mortgage, who is it through? Would you recommend them?

Our VA loan was through USAA. And since that loan, we have had two other home loans through USAA. We have never had a problem and love using them for our home loans along with a lot of other things.

We have a VA loan, not sure how we got the first bank (we think the realtor picked it?), then it switched again, and now is with Wells Fargo. We just refinanced with them and they waived their fees, we just had to pay all the other fees associated with the loan.

I didn't have a VA loan but when I refi'd, I went with my credit union. There is one particular place that services credit union loans that they primarily use when they sell the loans. Then, it is not unusual for the loan to stay with them until the house is paid off. This is why I went with them. I didn't want my loan sold from one company to another over and over. When I went to the closing, they gave me the paperwork right then of the company the loan was going to and it never changed.

We're using a credit union and our loan will not be resold. The home builder is paying a percentage of closing costs, the credit union is also contributing to the fees. We may actually get money back at closing.
